Need help researching TOS wall comm

I would like to scratch build the TOS wall communicator. Can anyone point me in the right direction to start doing research on it? I have the Starfleet Tech manual. Is it in there? It's been years since I cracked that book looking for something other than ship specs...

I am looking for specs, material of the speaker grill, the switch, and I REALLY need help with those paint colors too. I am going on nothing here. I haven't even looked at one up close, I just thought it'd be something cool to put on my wall and have for the party, provided I can get it and all my other projects done too.

I tried to find the original post at ASAP but no luck... someone had made a great replica com panel and posted some pictures with measurements. Can't vouch for accuracy but it looks great.

Is the large silver slanted block above the speaker grill supposed to be frosted plastic or something? I always thought it was something like that when I saw it on TV, but I haven't really looked into it too much yet.

Yeah, on the show they used frosted plexi. I think who ever made the replica above did it with clear resin with a frosted spray... not really sure.
