Need help on ninja material

Lets get some suggestions on how I should go about making this. Should I sculpt each piece and then mold and cast the piece in silicone rubber and attach to a bodysuit? I'd like to hear some pro costume makers' advice. Thanks.

I think a full suit made of rubber would not be wearable in practice. Heh, not even a full glove made of rubber would be wearable.
I would maybe get some parts vacuuformed, for more rigidity and more airflow inside the suit.
Also see if some parts could be sewn in vinyl instead of cast, which would reduce costs. Perhaps vinyl directly attached (glued/riveted) to a frame of styrene in some cases.
Then paint all pieces with the same paint.

He could do the suit like the batman suits. The latex pieces were in sections glued to a lycra jumpsuit. Very flexible. It personal preference.
He may be able to use both tech. incorperated together to achieve the effect desired.

well as you can see, the suit was made for movement. It has a similar looks as the batman suit. A bio suit basically. Flexible yet has rigidity. I was thinking a full body lycra suit as a base and attaching silicone parts to it. Sort of like the green goblin suit. If you look at the picture, the musculature is broken down into how the body is moving and the muscles. I think many seperate pieces attached to an inner suit would work. I like the idea of casting all the different parts of it in latex but I'm not sure about the thickness of the pieces. Take the outer thigh for example. That white part sitting on top is at least an inch thick. Anyone have ideas how to do the thicker parts? Possibly foam inside with latex on the outside. I am looking for some rigidity though.

There was a girl in Japan who did the ninja/ grey fox costume from MGS1 but i forgot where to contact her. it was very impressive....and she was hot to boot. :love

hey man, any pics? i'm a huge fan of grey fox...

i'd love to see a complete grey fox suit (and the hot chick) .

lycra or spandex bodysuit, vinyl or maybe latex for the outer areas, and the "big" stuff i would either go with foamies or maybe styrene.

its do-able, its just gonna take a lot :)

yeah definitely but the realism is lost in the cloth build up. Nice job on it without a doubt. Im thinking about the top suit though. I think possibly have a lycra suit, with a latex muscle buildup on top and then possibly rigid foam or styrene for the larger white outer pieces

having been involved in Ninjutsu since around 1988 i'd love to see my sensi face if I walked in with that on LOL :lol

I would do a body sculpt first. Make some molds from that and use some self-skinning latex foam. It will look absolutely great, be flexible and have that "rigidity" you are looking for, yet move with you and not be heavy. Paints great and will make a great suit. Liek others have said, you can attach your pieces to a lycra bodysuit.

Oh, this is something I would love to see. :D

Any idea what type of self skinning foam latex? I would prefer not to cook it in the oven. Isn't there a type of cold foam or something which doesnt require baking in the oven? Also, how would I go about connecting the foam latex pieces to the lycra suit?

Sector are you in the Bujinkan or Genbukan? Yeah the look on your sensei's face would be priceless. Oh and to top it off have a straight bladed square guard ninja sword strapped to your back LOL

I guess i'd want a slightly flexible one which doesnt leave creases when flexed. Any ideas on connecting the cast pieces to the suit?

You will have both static parts (thighs, chest and back, shins, etc) and flexable areas like your torso and feet.

You can latex and rubber bond them to the lycra suit, it will become part of the suit.
