NECA Balrog stand

Anyone who bought the fantastic NECA Balrog learned real fast that he's too heavy for his legs to support. I made a concrete Moria column and base that seems to have done the trick.

Very impressive. The detail and outcome of all your projects amaze me. I can't believe what you manage to accomplish with slabs of molded pulp wood.

As this is a display piece, have you given any consideration to filling the seams in the Balrog and giving it a repaint? Seems a shame to have such a beautiful detailed base, but have an articulated toy attached to it. Though, I'm sure the shear size of the thing draws some attantion away from the toy aspect.

Very nice work on that base.
Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't see how this would help hold the Balrog up? Is it just leaning against the column?

I know what you mean. I probably will have to do that someday...we'll see how long I can put up with it!

There is a bit of leaning involved but the majority of the weight is taken up by a wire that comes out of the top of the column and winds around the waist seam. That's why I needed to cast it in concrete...I was afraid the MDF wasn't up to the task.

THe stand looks nicer than the figure!!

Filling the seems is a must!

I really love your blog and have learned more than a few things from it.
Keep it up.

Dang, that is very impressive.
The amount of detail and work you put into iut is really tremendous, I agree that the Balrog needs to be cleaned up to match now!
Maybe you can add some orcs or dwarves scattering at his feet!
Very, very nice.
