Neat animated Rocketeer Short

i wouldnt watch it if this was a series and i definitely wouldnt buy the merchandise for it....maybe a rocketeer figure, but thats about it

Sometime back in the '90's, when Batman, the animated series was the hot action / adventure program on afternoon television, I had attempted a letter writing campaign for Disney to hop aboard with a Rocketeer animated series to compete with Warner Bros.

Oh man, imagine Bruce Timm and the rest of the BTAS crew making a Rocketeer cartoon. That would be fantastic.

I don't know - as much as I love The Rocketeer (Both the movie and comics) I think I'm okay with where it's at right now. Let it run it's 4-issue mini-series with IDW and let's digest it some before doing something else with it so we're not going overboard with this.

I think part of my hesitation is fear of Disney (or whoever) would produce something and have it be crap. I almost saw it with one of the short stories in The Rocketeer Adventures #1, and just don't want them to be producing material just for the sake of churning out something so they have an excuse to draw Bettie Page.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for more Bettie :) but I want descent material to surround her and Cliff.

Is releasing 10 variants of each issue considiered going overboard? That said I've bought them all.

Just a FYI. In the lasest Issue of IDW comics ROCKETEER ADVENTURES, there is a pulp style story by Joe R. Lansdale with pulp style illustrations by Bruce Timm. So at least you could get a glimps into what it may have been like.
