Nautilus Inspired Hand Blaster

Just wanted to show off a little something I did yesterday. Ive had this squirtgun laying around for a while and couldnt figure out what I wanted to do with it, but after finding a cool crackle paint effect kit, It came to me to make it styled like a squid shell and corroded copper, like something Captain Nemo would use. So, here it is. I want to do a bit more to it, but im not sure what, recommendations appreciated. I definetly want to make some sort of rusted and dirty plaque with huge bolts on it. You can get these at Walmart, I tried finding a before picture online, but no luck, so maybe Ill pick up another for comparison pics if anyone is interested.

Great paint job. I think a new trigger would be a mod worth putting some time into - it's the one thing I see that gives it away as being an ex-toy.

Seems to "spacey" to me. I'd think about making up some kind of Edgar Rice Burroughs, John Carter of Mars type background for it.

Im half way through another quick mod, drilled out the big round part in the front sides and putting a big green marble on each side, kind of like squid eyes or a water porthole.

The mods look great and I love the design and paint jpb, but I'd second the comment about changing the trigger, it definitely still gives away it's "toy" ancestry.

I'm gonna third the changing or even just the removal of the water gun trigger...but other that that, it's spectacular.

Got a couple comparison pics. And for the marble "eye" im going to be cleaning up around its edge and sculpting around it a little, so thats not quite done. keep coming up with ideas when it looks done

Awesome paint scheme and detail.

Did you put the marble eye on both sides?

Also, you could have used a glass paint on that part instead of painting over it, so it's more even on both sides - just a thought.

that part was actually clear red on the one I used, so clear paint over it wouldnt work, and I wanted something to stick out a bit more, yeah the marble is on each side, theres two. I tried cutting them down a bit so they wouldnt stick out so much, but couldnt cut the glass, I dont think they look that bad. Still not done with them, might come up with a better idea soon.

This isn't of the "steampunk" style (looks rather like Marvin's gun from the Hitchhiker's Guide movie), but the Nerf Atom Blaster gun has got possibilities too I think.
