Thanks dude! I consider myself a tyro really but I may be starting to get the hang of this CG lark! :)

I was all set to carve these up in Renshape but I've gotta admit it's nice to *know* you have perfect symmetry and zero fit issues. :)

It needs to remain like that so that it fits over the armature ends.
If its too problematic with the undercuts, we could cast in 3 pieces?
 
Yeah no probs, just wondering. Finally picked up 10kg of ultrasil, 5kg, clear cast, 10kg fast cast resin and a whole bunch of stuff. Just need a few more kits and the final files when you guy's are done. And we are almost ready to rock.

Scratch that, not space slug, shame though.

Guy, it's part of a tarbosaurus bataar skull. It was *meant* to be lifesize, but there was a wacky mistake.
 
Finished off the nose by gluing the nostrils in place and adding the sytrene:

I though it might be a good idea for those folks that will be adding the cockpit or lighting option to be able to remove the main top panels for access. To achieve this I have added a couple of extra pieces of acrylic that allow the top panels to be fitted togther as a separate unit. To this I then added 2 rare earth magnet at the front and 2 to the rear, with corresponding magnets glued to the ship. Seems to work well...

I'm using magnets on a removable panel today - will do the same on the Narcissus. Great idea!

I picked up an iRobot "dirt dog" robotic floor cleaner on ebay a while ago - does a great job of keeping the floor clean!

While taking photos of the model yesterday, the rear hatch between the engines (which isn't glued in yet), slipped out and smashed on the floor!:cry
I'll be able to glue it back together though as none of the acrylic broke, just the glued joints...
 
Ouch, bummer, Paul! Model looking good.

I just sealed up and posted the upper engines. They're on Shapeways now, now if only I had some money to order them with! Fun budget is spent for this fortnight, waah. :(

Referendum: having spent a LOT of time poring over pics of the original model, I no longer think the 'scoops' are scoops. On Mr. Bower's replica engines they are recessed front and rear, but on the original, photos are not conclusive - but seem to suggest they're just solid blocks. The engines were cast in fibreglass - the replicas are too, but my suspicion is that the production versions were simpler.

I could easily include intakes front and rear, but for now I've made them solid. Opinions, preferences...Bueller?
