Narcissus Builders Club N Stuff.

As a check to confirm the accuracy of the model, I used software to camera match the reference pictures of the original model to our replica.
Below is our model (in transparent white) overlayed on top of the Pat Lowry reference photos.
The results show that the overlay is very close to being an exact match to the original :thumbsup

Thanks Paul. Should have more bits for you over the weekend. Going to WASMEX at all?
That would be great.
Yeah, I might see if I can slip down there and have a peek. You there Sat & Sun?

Nice! Did the same thing a while ago very crudely, but couldn't get as good a match. Must be nice to know what you are doing! :)

Busy Sat AM, be there Sat afternoon I hope, not sure yet about Sunday - hopefully!

Damn fine job guys!!:cheers

Yeah, it's a spendy product, but that's the nature of the beast in SS. I really fancy doing the 1/48 version we thought about earlier. Full resin kit - it would be a lot cheaper and we already have files for the hull and engines...would be great if we could get the kit parts scanned, now that'd be fun. A shrunken head SS kit, lol.

Oh, final mould poured and should be ready tonight. Final in the sense it's the last one out of the original batch of stuff I promised, haven't started the well yet. If it pulls well there will be a gloat-ey TA DAAAAAA post later on. :p

I might remould the clamp to add a bit of detail I missed though. Could also just be added to the styrene cutting pattern - Paul, doable? I missed that there's panelling on the lower waistband joiner to the clamp. OTOH it might be less than .75mm; looks like it could be .5mm.

I've been modelling the kits parts as I've recieved them ;)

One step ahead of you Martyn - I've already added it to the prototype and the the master styrene layout (in .75mm) and it looks fine :D (note: it is on one side only, not both). I wouldn't bother re-molding the clamp for it - much easier just to add the styrene.

You...you jammy devil! Wow! :lol

You're doing these in Rhino I guess? If so then it will be a doddle to work everything up for printability. :)

To be honest I kind of hate the clamp mould. It's a tricky shape to do without pressure but I managed it - the down side is that demoulding is a bit of a *******, hehe. But eh, if it's already on the styrene and is .75, then that's MORE STUDIO SCALE! :thumbsup

:D

Not done in Rhino, but Rhino compatible.

Yeah, I knew that clamp would be a b**ch to mould from the start. Hopefully your mould lasts for than just a few pulls...
I think sticking with the methodology of the original where ever possible is a good idea. :thumbsup

You beautiful *******! :thumbsup

Yeah, it hurts my chubby fingers, lol. I think it will last okay, and if it doesn't it will be the smaller insert section which fails, so no problem there. I didn't include an insert for the armature on the inside because of the different armature types but should probably have fitted one to suit the aluminium armature. Might modify and re-pour that piece tonight.

Simon, what's the ID of the alloy pieces? Is the corner radiused?

Square but if you just do a "cross" N.S.E.W it will just slip in the inside. Then it can be trimmed slightly. It could just be an Acrylic piece that is glued on.

Ta. Got the ID handy at all? I had a cross in mind but it could wiggle a bit. OTOH, the shape of the clamp itself can hold it in place.

Eh, might cast them in resin as separate pieces. Use or don't use, easier to trim etc.

Right! Done! All good, got all moulds pulling cleanly, or clean enough for you lot anyway. :p

Here is the clamp being set up, the mould and the final result.

Here is the last engine master - how it looked early on Tuesday night followed by what it looked like before I dumped it in rubber later that night, and what the result looks like:

Another shot of the lower engine assembly - four parts in all; nozzle, body, 223 hull detail and Tyrell shroud. A lot of detail parts are required to dress it up, courtesy Mr. Graver.
