Narcissus Builders Club N Stuff.

Hey guys,
Does anyone here spot any of the decals from this section? They don't seem to be from any of the donor kits (no surprise) so I'm guessing there was a big box of decals at the studio from all the kit parts. Thus I'm guessing it's from some used on the Nostromo. My gut says Airfix 1/24th aircraft but I need good scans from vintage kits.

I took a still from the BluRay (Ironically the best ref of the underside so far) and trimmed it down to the useful part:

I'd be thinking Tamiya 1/32 mesself, maybe the F-14 or F-15. Those red ones look modern, as well as some of the red dashed circles elsewhere on the Narc.

I have an old Tamiya F-14 at home, I'll have a look tonight.

Oh, and BTW I have an Esci 1/72 Bf109 decal sheet in the post. It has the "eagle wing" logo as well as the "winged lion" as seen on the T-42 Skyhopper (Star Wars). Will scan it and measure it when it arrives.

Cheers, JT

Also, the yellow marking to the right of the palm tree is a TAC marking indicating a towed artillery unit. The Hanomag has similar decals, but not in yellow (at least not in the newer issues). It is not specific to the Afrika Korps.

Great screencap Lee !

Some of them could be Letraset transfert symbols, they heavily used them on props and sets... so why not here and there on models also ?

For anyone who doesn't already know they are getting one but are interested in a kit I'm just gauging interest so I can figure out the options for casting the resin parts.

Thanks.

MOD EDIT: link removed, interest thread in Junkyard

Good point about the Letraset Fred. I did notice them used in this shot, along with very obvious 8Rad kits sprues :) Anyone have scans of old Letraset symbol sheets?

I am currently working on the styrene layout drawings.
Nine panels have been completed so far, of which this is one:

attachment.php

They are drawn at 1:1 and will be included with the files for cutting the main acrylic panels. These can either be used as printed templates or to engrave the locations onto the acrylic panels themselves to ensure absolute accuracy.

The symbols that have the circle with the cross thru them are what we use to call "Registration Marks". I used them earlier in my design years to create mechanicals. They register an overlay acetate sheet to a mech board.

They were made by Letraset (as well as Chartpak) and came on sheets as well as on a roll. I might even still have an old roll somewhere. Love this thread and would love to hear about how I can get on the list for this kit. Thanks.

Oh yes, they also had a reversed version (if I remember correctly) for use on black boards. That's the other type of reg mark used in the glove photo.

I have an entire drawer filled with Letraset, Chartpak, Zipatone, etc... will see if I have what you are looking for.

I know i have registration mark sheets still - the "Triangles" Y-Wing used them!

Re: NARCISSUS Part id help

What kit would that be?

you are also gonna want a certain Airfix kit that was never repopped because of an accident with the moulds. AND its decals. Yes...THAT one...the one all the kit collectors want.

Fortunately I have moulds and scans. :)

Just test fitting for the styrene panel overlay. One part is just a stand in and I need to get the correct size tubing but you get the idea.

Ahhh the 1/25 Centurion! Can you get me a good clean scan? I'm going to order one soon.

It's been mentioned, so the Airfix SAM-2. You need four of them.

Great stuff guys. Did you note there are SAM-2 decals on there somewhere or other? I think - don't quote me - might have dreamt it but I'm sure I found some way back when.
