Re: NARCISSUS Part id help

For anyone up to the challenge, this iteration of Hercules can be streamed on Netflix. Perhaps it will provide a clue to the fate of the Narcissus.

Re: NARCISSUS Part id help

OK , this pic is of Bowers replica at the Sci-Fi Museum. (Thanks Fred) Don"t ID from this as there are some discrepancies. some of his kit parts are wrong. i have highlighted some of the correct ones. Here are some more parts....more tomorrow.

Re: NARCISSUS Part id help

I think the little piece under the windows (back far right) is also from the refueling set, but I don't have the kit to be 100% sure.

Re: NARCISSUS Part id help

Yeah I got about another 10 parts ID'd in that pick but my back is too sore to sit at the screen for too long. I'll add the rest tomorrow. Your gonna need two scammels too. Maybe three.

Re: NARCISSUS Part id help

Drawing update.... Woodlake has added a few details. More work for him but less for you. We'll probably cast the inserts for the rear so all you gotta do is slip it in.(that's what she said).

Re: NARCISSUS Part id help

So damn nice. Don't forget to NOT cut the windows out on the cutting files, though! :)

Re: NARCISSUS Part id help

No worries Martyn. The windows were added purely so that I could put reference marks on the drawings for masking them. No cuts will be on the actual panels themselves.

Re: NARCISSUS Part id help

Yeah onto that. There will be templates for the screens. Also don't forget folks these are just the drawings. The actual files will look more accurate. For example the side strips in the pix above only show dots. Whereas the files show the correct cutouts.

Re: NARCISSUS Part id help

Yeah - the software has a "quirk" in that it shows all slotted holes as being circular (in 3D views) :rolleyes.
All the fabrication drawings and cutting templates are correct though.

Re: NARCISSUS Part id help

Yeh, didn't mention those as I figured it had to be something like that, ta for the elaboration though. Hot damn, this is shaping up.

BTW Simon I actually got about a 2cm length difference vs my drawings on my lower engine casting when measuring it last night - quick and dirty job though as I had to get somewhere, got to do it properly tonight. You finding the same? Also a fair difference in the width for the flat nozzle seat area.

Re: NARCISSUS Part id help

Why don't the three of us get together with some engines and kitparts this weekend and knuckle the dims out. Martyn, Paul?

Re: NARCISSUS Part id help

Can't, too much on, sorry! Would be keen to do that though...free the Sunday after?

Re: NARCISSUS Part id help

Paul, nope, I was comparing my drawings and dims to the engine castings I have. Did you change the dims, versus mine? The engines looked pretty good when we tested them against your drawings on Sunday, bang on in fact. If you didn't change the dims, then it was just me being rushed and clumsy. If you did, you got it dead right.

That said my castings are by Martin Bower, but from his replica projects not from the original, so some variation is to be expected. I think the taper on the nozzles could be slightly different. I'll post pics tonight.
