My 'Walking with Dinosaurs'-style Utahraptor costume

This is awesome, cant wait to see more progress!
Only one think I thougth about, maybe you should watch some videos of Walking With Dinosaurs. They got small costumes used by humans in the same manner that Westies 14 sketched up, the t-rex babies, and also the raptors. Maybe you could get some more ideas from that?
Anyways, good luck!

Here's what I'm thinking of - dino in green, human in red, mechanical/structural possibilities in blue!

It will be really painful for your back to walk like that with the weight of that dinosaur on it, I don't think you will last longer than half an hour.

Oh my God dude, this is insane and wonderfully amazing!
I saw the show last year and was sitting there thinking about how much I'd love to eventually have a similar Raptor costume, but I haven't been brave enough to ever start.

As for the feathers issue, to heck with that. Science can go jump. My childhood images of dinosaurs will always be the right ones as far as I'm concerned. :)

My visit to Theo Jansen and his Straandbeesten

For those of you who have never heard of him, there is an amazing man named Theo Jansen. He's a creator/artist/engineer sort of man and he happens to live in my city. I had the pleasure of meeting him and interacting with his creatures. I won't go into any off topic detail, but I find him very inspiring especially in the skeleton planning stage of my costume. Here's a link to a video of my time on the beach: A Visit to Theo Jansen and his Strandbeests - YouTube and here's a link to his website if you're interested: STRANDBEEST

I'll post a pic of my completed Scale Model tomorrow.
@dArtagnan, haha thanks for the support in that department
@CinnamonB and JohnnyMuffintop, thanks a lot :rolleyes

they had one of these raptors at the local mall and i took some photos (which I actually ended up selling to the mall for PR purposes). let me know if you need some good photos.

Amazing, can't wait to see this completed. I did a "budget" dino myself a few years ago. I'd love to go back and re-visit and do it again, only this time with more than $100 to build it :)

I have alil experience with some similer dinos.. i take care of River Adventure @ universal orlando.. and I think we need a cpl of these in the park :)

So excited for this! I saw the Walking with Dinosaurs promo at a mall on youtube and just about cried at how realistic the dino looked. The kids reactions really got to me. They believed this was a real dinosaur. If you can do that as a costume/prop/special effects creator you have done very well.

Good luck with this build! I am subscribed and can't wait to see the progress on this.
