At least to my liking he is. I have tried to split the difference between the prop and the wear. So this display goes a walkin' some times... :lol
Man.. been a long road. My progression in pictures... over three years to get this far.
Started with a Rubies, to get the feel of Vader. Loved the effect, hated the costume.
Tossed the thing. Then the upgrades and well basically a new suit. Started with the leather suit, then got armor. V1 went to Celebration Japan and took a year to get to this level...
Better, but just not good enough. Hated the cape line, the boots to square, the belt looked cheap. The box was a GT, good.. but not accurate. Don post knock off lid, GT armor. This is a great Halloween costume but not a professional level rig. So on to V2...
New helmet, new armor. This went to Sankyo for the Commercial shoots.
Still sporting the GT box as well as bad boots. Gloves still too long and the Cape and Robe just have a bunched look. Standard Customs Props stuff from Ebay. Troop well though. This shot has the upgraded belt, but still the same potumac belt boxes.
And that is where I was until today. Finaly... I am happy with Vader*. The costume that is. Still not happy with the manny, so Ill be looking to do up a Gino level mannequin. What changed?
Well.... Lots.
These quick shots above are sporting the gear that I think splits the divide of wearable and accuracy. Yes, I can improve on this suit still, and may as I get chance but really, its hit the high water mark to me.
My JBV1 is still on the head, but with AP lenses and Fatherless one tusks. The armor is GH, the chest box is AP ESB, Held up with 99centtaco weathered Straps. (may need to tweek the mounts...rivets are showing right now.) The belt is a Taco as well with Russ rep boxes. Real (or damn close) green and red lights. Russ also did the buckle. Saber hook is at the moment an eBay special, but that is soon to change. Cod is an AP ESB, boots are German Officer parade Vintage WWII. Leathers are from Customs Props, shins are Sith Armor.
Now the biggie. The Cape and Robe is from Kev Vader. WOW. Huge difference those make. I love it. The hang is right, the weight, the feel... Man. Made my Vader. Well worth the coin. I even added the right cape chain even though you cant see it. Saber is an MR converted, so it can troop and make all the cool noises.
So outside of Gloves... man. I need gloves. But until some are made available I will have to just like the modded Sith Armor ones I have.
There he is... My Vader. Now to fix the manny up, and take some pro shots of him.
* Vader is never really done...*
