Hi everyone
This is my first post and my first built ever. I just discoverd this whole community a couples weeks ago when I begun to search for my next halloween costume.
What I'm trying to do is a replica of the first Thor movie. I already figured out almost everything that will need to be done ans also, I almost finish all my purchases.
Here is my plan
Mjolnir: I bought a cheap replica that will be the base. I will fill it with something and had more detail with a better finish
Helmet: I bought the Thor prestige costume for the purpose of using the front disks, the pattern of the chest armor and...The helmet that is pretty lame (the 4 parts one). I will use it's ''shell'' and reinforce it with fibreglass inside to create one solide part. Then I will sand and Bondo all the seams. Finally, I will paint it with the Krylon premium metallic silver foil sprey paint.
Cape: I learned that the material is wool (bananahammock in here bought some red cashmere wool fabric that is perfect). I'll need to shape it just like in the movie
Chest armor: Like I said, I will use the template from the costume I bought and size it to fit my shape. I choose 3mm thick orthesis grade EVA foam (shore 45 hardness) that is available at my wife lab. Everything bonded with special flexible contact cement (for shoe making). The armor will be sealed with PVA and I will use 3 coatings of Polyurethane to create that hard plastic look. I will also use some meshing and leather inserts to accentuate the textures.
Forearm and shins: Same method as the chest armor. Will use some of the cape material to make the forearm wrap and the little parts on the shins.
Physical conditionning: I didn't found any way to really replicate the metal sleeves so, I decided to go sleeveless. Since I'm already buff enough, I'm focusing in loosing about 10 pounds to make my muscles pop out more (still have 5 weeks to accomplish this)
So far, I made the right and the left forearms armor

I'll keep you posted on my progress
