Recently I’ve been on a binge to finish projects I have had in storage. I had a couple of flash tubes that I acquired that were already marked for ROTJ Vader so I decided to finally build these up.
I designed and printed all of the parts I needed except the shroud. This the the MOM shroud from Thingverse. The emitter I turned on my metal lathe and the valve stem I already had. One thing you can’t see is the guts. I modelled and printed this so everything either press fits or screws in.
The front belt clip I printed and fashioned the metal loop from a coat hanger. The brass knurled nut I had but may swap this out at some point if I can find something more accurate. The door latch I modelled and printed.
The control box and mid band I modelled and printed. This works great as the front and back halves of the saber are friction fit together and can come apart if needed.
The back kobold clip I again modelled and printed. Finish is rub n buff to simulate aluminum and I again bent a coat hanger to shape. I found a couple small screws to finish it off and the different finish of the screws really makes it look convincing.
Found another small screw for the door catch.
The grips I had were were a little long so I had to trim them down. They are attached with VHB tape.
I decided to weather this lightly so it looks used but taken care of as I am sure a Jedi or Sith would take care of their primary weapon. All in all a fun project and on to the next one!
