My Rocketeer Collection Update 12/17 new layout and info

Re: My Rocketeer Collection

OMG, wow! I really loved this movie and I loved looking at your collection. Thanks for taking the time to post this for us!

I'm curious - what are your thoughts about the news from a few months ago of Disney looking into making another Rocketeer movie?

Where did you get the large Dave Stevens poster from the Rocketeer comic adaptation? I've never seen that before as a poster.

Re: My Rocketeer Collection Update 9/13 The Conquests of Casanova

This is just a stunning collection! Kudos for such a passion on it.

I do have one question for the Rocketeer die hards though: does anyone have any information on the caricatures seen in the South Seas Club lobby? Were they created for the set or were they lifted from a real location?

Im on the fence....i think the only positive thing is the technology....modern technology can make the film great if it is used moderately...ILM did an amazing job on the rocketeer...they used new and old techniques to bring the rocketeer to life...

there are just too many cons.....remakes today are horrible...poorly cast and written...there are more bad remakes then good remakes....the young actors today are horrible...i would hate to see them turn this into a teen drama

the idw mini series was poorly written and drawn....most of the artists they used were awful

joe johnstons rocketeer is a beautiful stand alone movie that holds up pretty well to todays standards...it was well cast and written...billy campbell was perfect for the role...

i had it custom made...i needed something for my closet door....it was pretty cheap to do...cost only a few dollars...a fellow rpf member owns a vinyl banner company that did it for me.....i can post their information if you are interested

I still haven't picked up the new comic series yet and they are about to start a fourth one. So, I guess it's selling well. I just wish they found someone to match Dave Stevens art style for these. But if the stories aren't that good maybe it's for the best.

I'm not fond of the remake/reboot idea either. I think I posted about it. However, if they go through with it. I would like to see if Ashley Greene could get the Bettie part. She was in the retro Pan Am show and kind of has the whole actress/pin up thing going.

The poster looks high quality for only a few dollars. This image should have been the reference Sideshow Toys used for their premium format statue. I'll add this to my list along with the rocketpack. If it's that cheap maybe I'll get it along with the next coin you're working on.

Ashley Greene would be a great choice to play Jenny/Bettie.....Its hard for me to imagine anyone else to replace Jennifer Connelly....she was perfect for the role.....I always thought Dalip Singh will be the perfect Lothar....

yeah, i think that is my biggest disappointment with the idw series. all of their artist cant match dave stevens work.....they dont even come close to it.....look at the upcoming rocketeer hollywood horror series....it looks like it would be drawn for a disney adventure or highlights magazine....just awful..

i was hoping they would had used that image for the sideshow statue too...its an iconic moment when the rocketeer stands next to the american flag and flies off to rescue his girl....instead they created a base and pose that has nothing to do with the film...which is probably why they had a hard time selling it.....

btw, here is the company i used to make the poster

Free Vinyl Banners

the owner is a member here....his name is jack knight1979....really great guy...helps you out with questions and any problems....really easy to work with...

Thats a sweet collection dude! Check out Adam Savage Rocketeer costume.

that is pretty cool....too bad i didnt get a chance to see the costume in person...i knew he was working on one for awhile, but never got to see it fully finished...it looks great...he has one of the best jackets on the market....

Re: My Rocketeer Collection Update 1/17 The Prototype Production Helmet

Update:

Thanks to a very close friend and fellow finhead. I had the great opportunity to add an amazing production prop to my collection. I honestly thought I would never own this particular piece....and I am excited and thankful to get this opportunity....

It's the Rocketeer prototype production helmet. It was sculpted by a Design Setters crew member (same company that mold all of the hero helmets and hero packs). It was shown to Joe Johnston which he rejected it....The final production helmet was later sculpted by kent melton.....

The prototype helmet was on display in the Rocketeer Gallery at the Walt Disney World MGM Studios in 1991....Then it sat collecting dust on the studio tour for many years....it definitely seen better days

Re: My Rocketeer Collection Update 1/17 The Prototype Production Helmet

I haven't seen the movie for over 10 years, I'll have to rewatch it. I never understood why that one big guy had such a distorted face. Feels like he belongs in Dick Tracy.

Re: My Rocketeer Collection Update 1/17 The Prototype Production Helmet

the rocketeer comic and movie made references to pulp fiction characters/ pop culture characters from the 1930s to 50s.....

doc savage and bettie page were widely used in the rocketeer comics.....

Rondo Hatton was the inspiration for Lothar. Hatton was an actor that did B level films in the 30's and 40's.....he suffered from a disorder called acromegaly that cause his face to become distorted......

Re: My Rocketeer Collection aka my finhead obsession (Pic hEAVY/updated)

Harada: Haha..... There is a science fiction museum in seattle I believe..It has some rocketeer screen-used items there...However, the helmet they have is a Marketing helmet...It isn't a screen-used or production helmet....Some-one said the sign or the info sign said it was a screen-used helmet, but it isnt.

I sold that helmet to them; you're right, it was made for marketing. The first guy I talked to knew that right off. Not sure how that morphed into screen used.

Re: My Rocketeer Collection Update 1/17 The Prototype Production Helmet

after a year, i finally got around to take a picture of my production helmets.

All three are production made helmets from design setters. Shows the evolution of the helmet. From prototype to raw casting to a fully completed helmet. All materials are original and untouched.
