My REAL Stormtrooper Blaster

So, it can fire, yeah...but what about after the conversion? Cutting down the mag, installing grip material...you couldn't fire it then, right?

I would think you could fire it after conversion, so long as you did it right. The vents on the barrel shroud can be covered, but you'd want metal parts not plastic or else they might melt if you threw a lot of lead downrange. The only other issue is the magazine, but I'm certain with a little know-how and some precision welding one could cut the mag down and still make it function, albeit a few dozen rounds shy.

And removing the extra barrel length would be illegal in the US without a special license from BATF. The extra length was added specifically to meet the requirements of our federal law, which maintains any 'rifle' or 'shotgun' must have a minimum length of 16 inches from chamber to tip, otherwise it becomes a 'weapon of mass destruction.'

Correct, you would need to apply for a Short Barreled Rifle, SBR from the ATF. Then you could convert the barrel to the correct length. I did find somewhere online that was selling a special 10rnd magazine for these. I'm not sure if that length is correct, but would be much closer than this 34rnd one.

I think you'd want metal vents over rubber. However, I shot several hundred rounds through it and it didn't get hot at all. The diameter of the barrel inside the receiver is much larger in diameter than the actual 9mm barrel sticking out. So maybe that is helping dispence the heat.

Now this looks sweet, i love the pistal version :thumbsup

Century is stockpiling them to meet demand once they are released. Note the stockier cocking handle...

I built one years ago from a MGC Sterling Blank gun and the mag could only hold 5 RDs with spring and follower after cutting, and it is the same length as the MR blaster. with only a 5 or 10 round mag you would have to be pretty quick changing and have a few on hand to worry about barrel overheating.

I just picked up one of these Sterling "sporters" today. :) Looks amazing, weighs a ton, and I'm hoping to get to shoot it soon!
