My Old Series TARDIS Console (Pic Intense)

Ooooh! Can we all use it? I'd like to do a Dr.Who fan film too!

And after that we could gather ALL of our fan film Doctors together for one BIG fan film and call it "The OTHER Three Doctors"!! LOL!!!

-Gordon

<LOL> Sure why not, I'll tour the country side with my TARDIS for hire, righting wrongs, and traveling back and forth through time and space...and all the states in between.

Ron..When its complete I'd let you use it for filming..transport might be difficult though. Have to wait and see though..it can be broken down for travel.

Well I made a change of 3" and 11" for the control panel height and I am glad I did. It looks much better. I did a little more work on Sunday, I fixed the two panels that I had done with the incorrect height and did two more, two more to go and then I will start getting the panel covers ready. In the meantime here are some progress pictures.

Where are you going to put it?
That's really a great project, nice job!

Keep posting updates!

Well it will be stored in my basement, I am lucky enough to have a large enough area to keep it. It will be pulled out for fan films on occasion. I will keep posting as the project moves forward. Thanks for your interest and compliments

Well time for an update, Its been slow going what with the Holiday's, household projects and just life in general getting in the way but I was able to do a bit of work this weekend and finish the panel frames. I have them all bolted together, two sets of bolts will be removed to divide them into two sets of three, but for right now they are all fastened together. I am posting a few pictures of the rotor propped up in place just so I could get an idea of how it will look, Its just resting on some wood and a box for the picture. I hope you enjoy this small update.

Hey guys, thanks for the comments much appreciated. In answer to Gordon's question yes, It will be wired up for motion. In fact maybe someone can help me out with that, where can I get a small electric motor and gear box that would work for this? Any ideas?

Karsten

Its really funny about that... i went to the Tardis Rebuilders group and so many of them were SO over-thinking the problem when it was always so very simple to me. the Time rotor is nothing more then a piston. Like in a car. Attach the mechanism to a motorized crankshaft and you have a rising and falling time rotor.

There are probably many electric motors you could scavenge from various sources to power the crankshaft. I'm drawing a blank right off the bat, but my first suggestion would be to look at an autoparts store for an older windsheild wiper motor.

How large are those windshield wiper motors? Do they have enough power to push the rotor up and down? I dont need anything super robust but I also need something with a bit of umpf!!

See, now every now and then I make a gun or a helmet and I think to myself...."Hmmmm, not bad. You're getting pretty good at this stuff".....and THEN along comes a project like "this".

Dude........you are a legend.

Stuff of this size and grandeur just makes me go all weak at the knees.(y)thumbsup(y)thumbsup:

Wow, well I really appreciate the compliment, honestly this is my first time at something like this, being one of the guys on this board who is always envious of other peoples talents its a bit hard for me to absorb. Thank you though.

I think i read somewhere where a person used an old ceiling fan motor to drive the crankshaft

Yup I know that guy, he is a member over at the TARDIS re-builders guild, problem is his set up broke, I am not sure why. I need something that is going to give me a nice smooth up and down motion. I have seen one built with a clothes dryer motor but that thing was moving so fast it looked like it was going to shake apart.
