Should be easy enough to direct the light up or down without losing visibility. Using narrow beam LEDs will do the trick nicely.

Re: My New Iron Man Helmet 16/10 Painted!

not taking it as a go at me so no worries
not an important enough subject to get all worked up over

:)

I like that you stagger the sockets, very close the real deal

all your missing is an angle to the edges of the eye lenses and your there

and it looks like you have enough room in order to see out from under the
lights

very nice

doing a nickle plating is really no different then brass
nickle is the second bath when you normally do chrome
its one or two before chromes from what I remember since
I haven't plated anything in about a year.

a polished and then brushed nickle would give you pretty close to
the perfect finish for it

I only ever saw that suit once and it was at the same time as when I saw the hero mark 3 so I spent a bit of time on that one obviously

but the finish was brushed
you can see that clearly here along with the angle of the eyes

No worries here mate:)

The angle on the lenses is there, its just blurred out with the glow of the lights, ill take a pic without the lights on.

I was really determined to have the double socket, i havent seen anyone else do this yet and i thing it makes a massive difference to how the finished piece looks. The only thing i have perposefully changed is the size of the lenses, i have made them alitlle smaller to give the wearer better visibility.

The visibility doesnt matter too much in the film so i guess they could afford smaller "peep" holes but i want to be able to walk round and see that little kid trying to pull my leg armour off at a convention.:lol

the nickle finish would be great but i dont know any metal platers. The way i did the brass face plate was to powder the mold with brass and then dump aload into the resin.( I have a resin designed for this so it is really runny so i can overload with the brass to get a much higher concentration of metal in the resin.

Maybe I can get a nickle powder? the aluminium looks good but is is a darker metal.

Re: My New Iron Man Helmet 16/10 Painted!

another option i am thinking of is to alcad chrome the helmet, then use their special clear coat and brush that down with wire wool to get the brushed look.

Holy crap on a stick, Rich! That looks phenomenal!

Oh my God.

Any nay-sayers can freakin' SUCK IT, because that's the cat's ass, right there boy! :love

:D

There's a line between the eyes, that links the eye-sockets.
You did not engrave it enough. The furrow, or depression or trench or whatever, should be deeper.

any better? :D
