My mpc just went up in value

Screenshot2012-07-08at104048PM.png

In this shot the wing canons are in the proper alignment. :confused

Asteroid sequence? Does anyone know which part of the asteroid sequence this was used in - The Falcon is too blurred in alot of the shots?

There's footage of it being used for animatics for the asteroid sequence. But it sure looks totally absent from any finished asteroid sequence shot.

Slightly bigger pics, for anyone who couldn't get 'em out of the PDF.

This is great news for us on low budgets. 20 bucks for a 78 mpc x-wing and you'll soon have a more accurate SS x-wing than MRs 1000 $ version.

Yes that's the MPC. They used plenty of them in both the ESB and ROTJ. In that pic it is obvious by the shape of the fuselage and size of the engines.

Thank you for clarifying. Always liked the approaching Cloud City-scene. Already took some more screens for the MPC i ordered yesterday.

So why did they use an mpc for this shot. Why not just use the studio model they built?

Dont quote me but i think Red 5 was toast at this point in time??? Painting up an MPC, i guess is a no brainer compared to building new 1/24 hero models, and easier to manipulate.
Again, thats not set in stone, just my thoughts.

Yeah, I spent yesterday evening skipping through the making of empire book, and did they have their hands full. Ok, so now we made the snowbattle, the 100 asteroids scene and those 10000 lights star destroyers, so where did we put that red 5 model?

True Lee. With the exception of Dagobah and the full size set pieces, all the x-wing shots in ESB are distance shots. The further away from camera the smaller the model required.

If you think this is bad, look at that ROTJ pic with Lucas surrounded by props and models. On the table there is a dozen or more white Kenner die-cast TIEs, complete with the battery compartment rear that Kenner inexplicably replicated from the larger toy.

I think it's great. I've always read stories about them putting in crap in the background or in the animatics. Sneakers, potatoes and so on. Especially in Jedi, there's so much going on I couldn't care less. But here it's got centerstage. To bad they couldn't advertise it as "exactly as the model flown by Luke in The Empire Strikes Back". Would have sold them some more.

No guys, Red 5 survived the filming of ROTJ. We've been over this, tch. :p

It's seen in the shot of Lucas surrounded by models, with one wing stripe painted out, to represent Red 4. How it was destroyed has never been admitted in public, AFAIK.

It was a fairly thorough job though. :cry
