Aha! I was right! A gusset! All that from looking at a silhouette! I'm good. :love

Now that I've seen the pants fabric up close, I'll keep an eye out for everyone. I have a pretty good selection of resources and in my commission work as well as my design work, I'm always fabric shopping.

I just kind of poke in here and add my two cents every now and then. Like the TDK Joker, I'm not actually doing this costume. Just curious to see everyone else's progress and happy to help out when I can.

I just ordered my wig from Amphigory Wigs. It is the bad girl wig in platinum blond. Using alcohol and FW Ink I plan on dying the wig orange and add some darker orange/red highlights to match it up to the movie wig. It will also require some reworking and design but that is why they invented hair spray!! Kanekalon / synthetic so it will be easy to style.

They also just went on sale for $46.99! SOLD! $2.95 shipping. All that needs to be done now is just a very short purple dye.

I'm kicking myself.... I'm about 90% sure I've seen his pants fabric on the shelf in a local store before... but about a year ago (is the problem). If I swing by that side of town I'll double check it

Well I did it! Bought the pants from Overstock.com. It has some tinges of light orange strips but those will probably disappear once I get the purple dye in the material.

I'll post before and after pics once the "moderfications" take place!!!

i got lucky ad just found them at a thrift store so i cut them so they would bell and put all the stitching in them.
ignore those socks cause i got much better ones now

So much to do and running out of time. Updates without pictures because I am working at feverish speed.

- Pants were stripped of most color (more like faded) and dyed purple. They are VERY purple. Next up I am thinking of adding some lighter colored pinstriping. Next come gussets using this process! All will be hand stitched.

- Shirt is now pink and has lace around the sleeves. I added the lace to the inside of the cuff rather than the outside. I think it looks neater.

- Hat - No progress. I have all the raw materials but just haven't had time (no excuse!)

- Hat pins - I am shattering glass beads left and right trying to get holes drilled. Not having much luck and I may give up and go to resin!! Sculpy clay for the other items and a Dremel tool for shaping.

- Coat, vest, and hat sash - They all sit in the hands of my Master Seamstress.....I am but a mere Padawan in her presence! I am anxiously awaiting her unveiling of such wonderful creations. I am also custom making four buttons for the coat out of Sculpy clay.

Dragon fly for coat. I originally was going to use a patch but decided to put myself in the mind of the Hatter. Would he have used a patch? NO! He's a bit of an eccentric. So I went to the number one supplier of all things Sparrow and Hatter! Ebay! Love this item!

Wig - No luck on my wig choice. Wrong style and doesn't fit. I am going with the Funny Guy wig for now.

hey im guessing your Fatal judging on what Chad had said
is this correct?

and Captain i did the same with my cuffs, i dont know why people keep putting them on the outside. in reality it would be stitched in when your making the cuff. i even gathered the bottom before i attached it so it give it more of a pop and looks way better

FYI if anyone needs a Hatter tye, Fatal5150 is the way to go. Got mine today and about crapped myself at how perfect it is! PICTURES COMING SOON!

And you won't be disapointed with the funny guy wig! it may be off a shade, but the shape and style is realy awesome!

I'm still trying to find a victorian arrow brooch that matches the one on his lapel in the "Battle Outfit."

Also, anyone found a match for his kilt tartan?
