My Luke ESB Graflex Lightsaber

When I did my esb DV Heiland I glued them in place and...once they were rock solid (superglue or epoxy)... drilled them in one go. I went slow with the drill bit, though you don't really need to. It WAS a bit awkward drilling when there were grips already on on flash BUT you can always make an on-the-spot jig or cradle with some scrap wood or pipe to hold things in place. Or hold the darned thing with your hands, but that's a LITTLE unsafe.

I also worked on the grips on opposite sides, (clock: 1, 4, 2, 5, 3, 6) rather than going around the flash. it was a little less awkward to drill.

For me, the winning bid was that this would MAKE SURE both holes were exactly the same. Also, it's easier to line up with the other grips as you're making it. Given the whole grip it's a little easier to visualize and eyeball than just eyeballing holes on bare metal. Make sense?

I made an old style 'blueprint' of the ESB HERO saber :)
It includes some building information and it combines all the knowledge I found on various threads.

If there something wrong, please shoot! (if you own a blaster! LOL)

Nice. Thanks for sharing!

If I am going to be picky, the T-tracks on the actual prop are not lined up that perfectly as like in your blueprint. At lest the one nearest the clamp's side bars and the one on the opposite side is rotated oh so slightly clockwise (from the endcap).
Both the "Ranch" saber, seen in several exhibitions, and the Wampa Cave saber have those two T-tracks that way.

Thanks for letting me know.
The drawing, of course, is like a design drawing, idealized if you want, and doesn't include the faults in production. I can't imagine that a crooked T-track position was done intentionally. But then again, maybe it was!
I think I will leave it like this, and if someone likes to copy the prop's flaws, I leave it up to them.
It's like some dents and scratches, for example on the Kobold clip: I don't think it's much appreciated if a new replica part would have these included. The weathering is an option for the builder.
But good of you to mention this!

Looks stunning ... or smashing ... or swooshing ... since I bet you swooshed it a couple of times in the air after that upgrade ... haven't you? ;)

Ive always been more of a imperial helmet guy (oh err) but got to say the idea of putting together a ESB Luke saber is growing on me. A quick search for 3-Cell Graflex comes up short though, literally as only 2 Cell seem to be around. If I could find a Graflex I'd be interested in one of your kits roy.
