My Jack Nicholson 89 Joker bust broke

I had a hearbreaking weekend. I was moving my full size statues around with the help of a friend this weekend. My friend tipped my 89 Nicholson Joker thinking the bust was attached to the mannequin like my other statues. This particular bust was not, it was sitting on a 2x4 I had fixed inside the mannequin's chest. So I hear the thud of something landing on the carpet and look down and Jack's head is in 2 halves. :(

This was a one off sculpt I had picked up a long time ago. It is very heavy at 12 lbs. It fell on the top of his head and cracked cleanly around the neck which was probably the weakest point since it was so heavy. He's got a hairline crack from the neck all the way up to the right eyebrow. What can I do to repair this? If it's going to be hard or time consuming, I might end up finding him a better home with someone who can show him some TLC. I am really pressed for time these days so I'm hoping it doesn't turn into a huge project to repair this.

That looks ABSOLUTELY fixable. No major damage to the features. I would recommend supergluing that back to the neck (prepare for some glue on the skin :lol) and apoxy sculpt or bondo for any cracks. Touch up the white and put on a happy face.

Use liquitex modeling paste for the crack up the side of the face - should cover that nicely. And... it's white.

The neck could show the seam after the fix, so again, use modeling paste to hide the seam.

Like the others have said: looks like an "easy" fix.

Thank you very much for the tips guys! So super glue for the neck and Liquitex modeling paste or similar for the cracks/filling. Hopefully I can tackle this during the weekend.

How tragic! As others have said though, no breaks/cracks in vital spots so repair shouldn't be too bad. :)

Good luck!

Keep us posted on the fix. The trick with modeling paste is to not fill the seam in one go, but instead do it over several applications, slowly building up and making sure it doesn't bulge out compared to the rest, as you don't want to sand it down. Go slow and go easy and don't panic and start over-applying the fixing like I usually do.

I wouldnt use super glue for that project. A 2 part epoxy will achieve a much stronger bond. To fill the cracks you have a few options: you can use a plaster like hydrocal or even a gypsum cement like ultracal mixed with some white glue in a paste to fill. Before filling place a damp rag over the crack to moisten it to accept the plaster. You can also use a modelling paste as suggested before. Bondo is an option but i wouldn't recommend it for ceramic or plaster as it will have a different porous structure than the area around it. Once you have your filler in, very cautiously sand it to get it nice and smoothe and then paint. Everything will work out fine just take your time. Be pretty liberal with the epoxy too and give it good drying time. Good luck.

I can fix it for you if you want. Give me a shout. I'll be away at Dragoncon tomorrow thru Mon night so if you don't hear from me, I'll contact you when I get back if you want me to do it.

Thanks again everyone for all the advice and offers to help. I've thought it over considerably and I think I am just going to try and find the bust a new home and not attempt to repair it. I was looking at my Joker statue and really the theme of my room is departing the 89 Batman film and is more Nolanesque now with some Avengers thrown in. Maybe Jack breaking was a sign it's time to move on, lol.
