My Iron Man Mark VI (pics + Video on pg4)

Nice build mate! I got the same response when I went into my local motorfactors buying paint. Lots of swearwords when the phone pics came out lol.

With regard to hinges, xrobots (james) method is one solution, but there are plenty of others, some more simple, some more 'screen accurate'. One of the most popular, which is probably a little more simple, and 'screen accurate' is utilising a double hinge mechanism. Heres a video showing the basic premise, but some fine tuning of the length and position of the hinges can have great results.

Thanks alot for the helpful comments guys! Appreciate it. I'll be continuing with the rest of bottom half of the suit once payday arrives :D

Great work on the fibreglassing and resin!
Your pep skills are great too.
Keep it up geeza!
I have Fiberglass resined the outside of the whole suit. I have also used Fiberglass matt tissue and resin on the inside of the whole suit. (The suit is rock solid)

Looks like i'm ready to get on with the body filler.

Heres a few pics:

I have also found some Electric LED Head lamps from the £1 shop. I bought 2 of them and installed the electrics into my Foam Gauntlets. It fits perfectly!! I nearly blinded myself they are so bright:

My house stinks of Fiberglass at the moment. Obviously i've trying to keep the stuff outside as much as possible but the rain is making me bring the pieces indoors.

Cheers Giva! The fiberglassing part was fine i thought. The part i'm stuggling with is the body filler (bondo).

I'm using Davids isopan P38 from Halfords and its horrible stuff :( What filler did you use Giva?

Another update guys:

I might re-do the eyes because the mesh I used has small gaps so I can't see through them.... Any feedback welcome

Man it is bad ass.I'm just trying to get into and spent all last night trying to find some files. I have an iMac. I never thought that would be a bad thing :). I finally found some but the shoulder parts have no numbers or lines. I've been checking for hours and yours shows it the best. I love it I still can't see everything but I'm going to attempt to do something. Great work man!

Thanks for the comments guys.

Arack: Alot of the files i had didn't have numbers on but i used the pepakura software to show me where each part goes.

I'd just like to build a nice helmet, I can't ever fi d one in the junk yard for under $200 and that's for a raw unfinished kit

UPDATE:

I've sorted out the light system for the suit, and i've bought a motor to go inside the helmet to make the faceplate lift up and down.

I also need to sand the bottom half of the suit, and go over the upper half again to tidy up some places. You might see bits of yellow card in places, thats where i've tidied up the rough edges.

I'm going to start testing out some paint colours today aswell.

Would love your feedback (It keeps me going :D )

Hey dude it's looking pretty amazing so far. I don't think mine's going to be finished for this Halloween now unfortunately. Where did you get the motor from for the face plate hinge?

Started testing the paint on a few parts and I really like it. They need a 2nd coat but I think its a good shade of red.

(I haven't painted the buttom lip underneith the faceplate - its got masking tape over the top)

I think you need a bit more fine sanding on it, I'm not trying to be critical, but looking at the glare off the shoulder it looks a bit rough, again I hope I'm not coming off as negative. I just think think having a smoother surface will help the paint pop even more

I appreciate all feed back! -
Yer the suit itself isn't as smooth as I was hoping. I've simply used too much body filler. No matter how much sanding I do I can't get it smoothed out as much as i hoped. I'm slightly rushing the suit to get it done for Halloween (I'm going to a couple charity events) but after that i'll get back onto perfecting the suit.
