Hi All,

I just wanted to share some progress pics of my interpretation of the Hero Bladerunner blaster. Ive done a lot of custom work on it. I fashioned a new buttplate out of aluminum which is thicker. I fashioned a new trigger guard out of steel. Used steel pinning for the triggers. I accurized the side cover to show the bolt. Replaced the screw on the side cover with a custom dial which is as close to the real thing as I could get. I still have to do more weathering and add the white wires on the side cover. Aslo I chose to weather the metal reciver and bolt with a darker tone which IMO would have been post weathering on the real one. Without the oxidation. Here are some pics. Thanks for looking.

WOW. very nice. I want to do mine with the darker Steel as well. Looks great.

You didn't happen to cast that custom dial did you? I could use 3 myself.

haha ...many many thanks to you Karl. Your pictures were inspirational to say the least. :)

Talisen- I will tell you how I came up with the dial. I rummaged thru a bunch of bolts and discovered some bolt heads that had some neat markings. With a lot of filing I rounded and notched the dial by hand.

Ahhhhh. The little seed I had planted has borne fruit. :sleep

Well done. :thumbsup

Looks great. What is the base gun and did you use the Styer rifle action? :cheers :thumbsup Thanks

Thanks for all the kind words. :) at the risk of being flamed the base of the gun is the one from Italy. It was a good cast but I did LOTS of reworking on it to make it solid. I wanted to get my own steyr reciever but that was cost prohibitive. :(
Rich- I now know the origins of this kit so all this wouldnt be possible without you doing all the leg work to recreate the BR blaster. Hindsight is 2020. So when your metal version comes out Im all over it. :)
Thanks again for kind words.
Carl

Totally agreed, it looks the business.

Just wondered how well the barrel cover under the bolt holds up?
I was worried about taking out the metal, not least because I might screw it up, but because it'd leave too little material in place.

By the way, mine's the same replica, which I managed to get for cheap because the original buyer couldn't finish it. He'd also painted it with car spray paint which must have started to flake off and peel as soon as it'd dried. So it's nice to see what can be done with such a kit, even though I'm not sure I'll be going quite as far.

Another question particular to this buildup... How'd you solve the problem of the barrel not locking? I reckon if I shave a few mm off the pin then the axle will fit into the recess rather than flush with it. Did you come up with anything else?

Thanks guys. :)
Wayne- Do you mean the reciever on the bulldog barrel? Oh wait I know what you mean. I had no problem cutting out the section where the bolt goes on on the cover. It is strong and holds up well. Just take your time. Dremel little bits at a time then sand to finish. I can tell you how I strengthened the reciever on the barrel. I shaved out the mock srcews in the front and tapped holes for real screws. I then glued the back end and when you pull out the bolt there is no shimmy at all. Solid.

Not sure why some of you arent seeing the pics. Could it be a browser setting?

You are now on my top three favorite paint jobs of this piece... That is AMAZING... What paint did you use for the Styre? It looks great, it looks like metal.
