My first prop build: IJ Holy Grail (DONE!)

Haha. don't worry, GeordieIndy. No need to apologize. When I first started, I said to myself "Holy crap this looks bad. What did I get myself into?"

I tend to start and never finish projects because of sheer laziness or because something else causes me to forget about the one at hand. I still have a metal noisy cricket that was sold here maybe 2 years ago that's sitting on a shelf half polished. :lol

Very impressive work! Looks like you nailed the weathering! And the overall shape is one of the best I've seen. Nicely done!

Dude. That looks more like the real thing than most of the high priced replicas available!

Bang up job for a rough hand sculpt! Not to mention the paint work ALSO being darn near SA perfect!

Do we know for sure what the original was made out of? Cause this sure looks right!

Do you have any measurements on this? Yours looks so great you have inspired me to make one myself! :)

Ohhh, glad I inspired someone :):)

Since we're talking about inspiration, I should thank BazzanoJones and the various pics of his grails for inspiring me to make mine. I really think his are the best shaped grails out there. (y)thumbsup:thumbsup

As I mentioned in the first post, my measurements probably aren't close to screen accurate. I just did a rough estimate and I think it's rather small. But regardless, my bowl diameter is 4.5", the height is 5 and 5/8", and the foot diameter is 2 and 5/8".

I'm sure some of the experts here can provide some accurate measurements for at least one of the screen-used grails (I know there were lots made for the film so they may all vary). That's one of the things I should have asked for before starting mine.

Now that is cool!!! Great job on modeling the clay.

I wonder if I could ever be that good. I tried my hand at this but pretty much screwed it up.

hey man awesome job. i have extra air drying clay from my first prop the sankara stone. it's not done yet lol. i've been wanting to do the holy grail in that clay. but i haven't had the guts to do it yet. i think you got my confidence up to try it now.

I'm glad I came on here to look this up. I've been wanting to hand-make a Grail for a friend's birthday, so it's nice to see someone do it roughly the way I wanted to.

And it does look really fantastic. I hope mine comes out as well... My friend will flip out.
