My (finally finished) ROTJ Solo Blaster

After a LOT of work that I did on the base Denix Mauser to clean it up and add missing details, and the talents of Boba Debt (flash hider & scope) and Vince (scope mount and scope tip and resin details), I present you with my (finally) finished ROTJ Solo blaster. Hope you like it. :)

I added the bottom mag details, the back release, slot and details around the hammer, the extractor on the slide, the details on the top of the gun near the shell ejection port, and a real Mauser sliding sight ramp along with the missing sight walls on the top section. I also fixed the lousy ribbing on the hammer that the Denix had. Plus, I decided to go for the weathered look on it. I added walnut grips in place of the plastic Denix grips, which added a lot of work but a nice detail to the gun. I know the scope graphics aren't something you saw in the movie, but I decided to make my own with a few added "details" (my name is in Aurabesh and my birthdate and "1138" are number details in the scope.) :)

I just added a better pic of the back detail and one of the details INSIDE the slide area. It's not the clearest shot... just some odds and ends I had that I fit down in to the mag area so you could see them when you pulled the slide back.

Very nice job on that "King of the blasters".
Ham says it so often, that's just what I call it now :lol .

Uh oh, Ham Solo's gonna freak! :lol

Good job, man, real nice work on the little details, did you engrave those lines (at the ejection port) with a special tool or what?

Thanks for the compliments, I really appreciate it from the RPF folks. :) I wanted it to look good before I posted pics.

I made the ejector detail from a thin sheet of brass from Ace Hardware and glued it on top of the slide. I started on this thing back in mid February and have spent a lot of time (when I could spare it) on improving the Denix and trying to make a good representation of the blaster.

Great job on that, Betamin. Excellent weathering; it compliments and completes the piece beautifully. :cool

Nice! Love the ejector and mag release details.

Might I suggest trimming down the pins in the slot on the upper receiver and filling the holes.

Hi, Same thing as Darth just above...Very nice finish on this blaster.
Now you just have to "take " a bunker !!!

Very slick buildup!

Is there ANYONE in EUROPE, who would be able to mill those left side details in my two MGC´s?

I´d rather avoid shipping them over the pond..twice.

Hey everyone, thanks for the compliments on the blaster. I'm glad you all like how it turned out. :) I decided, after getting the Denix, to do the best I could to make it look less like a basic Denix and as much like a Mauser as I could.

Treadwell, I had thought about doing that, but the gun was all painted and weathered, and the pins were the last pieces to put in when I reassembled it. I may try later to fill them in and do a touch up on it and also see if I can do away with the front screw, if I can figure out a way to hold the top and bottom together firmly without it. Know of a REALLY strong adhesive? :lol

Could you not use an allen type set screw? Then fill it in and paint over it? That's what I was thinking of doing on mine :)

Best version of a Broomhandle made by Denix I've seen!
Nice and flat looking too.

AND

A good buildup of the blaster itself.

Congratulate yourself: making any Denix gun look better is a challenge.

Nice work and thanks for sharing!! There's just something about this blaster that I just love. My favorite from the SW universe for sure :)
