Had a little time today to work on this puppy. I glued in the three indicator lights so I don't have to worry about losing them anymore. I also cut a hole in the main body for the trigger and cut the trigger out of a piece of scrap aluminum. It's non-functional, but looks pretty cool, IMO:
I also glued the vacuum tubes in place inside the transparent chamber and fabricated a retro-looking green heat sink to go in their as well. A threaded rod holds the whole thing together and a rubber gasket holds the acrylic tube in place, nice and snug. The white PVC cap that's holding everything on is just temporary until I can scratch-build the barrel of the gun:
looking at the last pic i would agree the back end needs "breaking up" with a colour/lines or maybe the lined grip section of the grip in a different colour?
