Hi all,
For less than $50 invested in this project in total, I think it cam out fairly decent.
The Idol was made by Blufive, and I picked it up in the JY for a steal. Very great transaction btw with vistaVision from the RPF. Great guy to deal with.
I painted the Idol with Rustoleum's Specialty Metallics Gold. This product is represented as a "plating" paint by the manufacturer. I think it came out nice. I would have loved to have had it vac metallized, but didnt have $250 to get it done right now.
The base was made with simple paving stones from Lowes. Cost about $4. I couldnt find any round stones, ah well.
The fake moss was purchased at AC Moore, and I used 3 different kinds to get the look I wanted.
The paintings on the stone were kinda cave painting inspired, and I took inspiration from the Sideshow carved base. Obviuosly, carving it into the paving stones would have been better, but I used acrylic craft paint and did a simple design in a simple, inelegant, crude manner intentionally.
All in all, a cool conversation piece in my office!
Thanks RPF.
