My Bumblebee

Sweet looking Bee, Izabel :thumbsup

Since this is some sort of foam rubber, what keeps the additional weight from making it sag? You mentioned there are no metal/wood braces, so are the pieces coated with something for structural stability?

I've always wondered about these costumes built from foam and whatnot; like what keeps them from sagging or drooping. I would thing the addition of glues and paints would cause the parts to just collapsing under their own weight, but that doesn't appear to be a problem.

hmmm...i'm thinking how to answer your question. the rubber we use is sturdy enough to hold shape. it doesn't sag really but it does gets worn out after sometime. like how a slipper sole gets thin after every use. i think you're thinking of a different kind of foam - those probably that have airholes so they're softer.

Hi Izabel,
Another filipino member here, though I live in Canada.
This is a great suit! I plan to start a build and hope to be finished in a year.

I have a few Questions...
1. How did you attach/secure the Arms and legs while wearing it?
2. Is the body/chest worn like American football shoulder pads?
3, Do you have any progress pics you can share?
4. What do you suggest as the first part to start on?
5. How did you get the scale for the wearer?

I was wondering if you would be able to post pics of the back and of the feet.

thx for your time.

1. The arms have a holder inside. The wearer doesn't even reach the fingers. The fingers are static because we can't make it as our own or else it would look short. Robert did it in such a way that it would look proportioned but he sacrificed the mobility of the individual fingers. As for the legs, he wears it just like big boots. :)

2. I don't know how you wear an american football shoulder pad. :( but the chest part you just slip it on your hear and it rests on the shoulders.

3. sorry. we don't have any progress pics. Robert did bee last year and we're not yet together then HA-HA-HA

4. Robert said he started with the body/chest. then all proportions should follow that.

5. Robert said he just thought how big he wanted it to be in relation to his body. all other parts followed in proportion to it.

I'll try to post pics and do videos when i get the time. i can't promise when i can do it though.i'll try my best.:)

Hi Izabel,
I was wondering if you guys had some time to do a video or detailed pics of the suit yet?
I just need some visual so I can see how I could start mine.
thx
Arnold
