my budget tusken raider mask

i bought a tusken raider mask off ebay last week and it looked quite terrible to be honest, but for the sake of having the raw parts i needed to make a TR mask (resin parts, mask shell etc), here's the auction:

i got it pretty cheap (although it didnt look very good so thats why it went cheap). since having it i've resprayed the "metal" parts, redone the leather around the mouth, moved the eye parts and tusks and totally redone the bandages in new material. i'm pretty pleased with how its turned out, the only niggle i've got is that the bandages arent frayed enough (purely because the material isnt spot on) but for the sake of a cheap display mask its perfect for me :) its also fully padded and fits me perfect incase i ever wanted to wear it :) (i know in the pics you can see through the eyes but in person its just black, its just the flash thats made it stand out)

Yup, it way too clean. And personally I would have gone with a lighter colo, "rougher" material. But the construction is fantastic.

I thought about doing a tusken jedi Aharedd Hutt not that long ago. That mask is a good looking replica. Most of the helmets look too big for the body. That looks good.

i'm happy with the colour, it pretty much matches pics i've compared it to, i know the material isnt spot on, but i worked with what i could get hold of, i couldve got some cream denim and dyed it but i wanted to get this done pretty quick. any tips on weathering?

Two words: Fuller's earth. For any desert related costume, this stuff is your friend.

And fraying around the edges. Also look at a spray bottle with dilute acrylic paint for weathering. The SUN works wonders too!
