My Back to the Future collection [Real Guess jacket P48]

Re: My Back to the Future collection - COMIC CON P.25

Thanks :p
@Diana88 I actuallyed install an acrylic rod within the acrylic tube, as the light spread better in a rod... I had to saw it down though. I installed a led at the end of it, and my boyfriend helped me solder it to a watch battery (with a slot and a switch), and fit the whole thing in! The end is just double sided taped, but it's not a strong one, so I can remove it at ease! Wanted to use velcro, but couldn't find an extra thin one.

That's awesome! :thumbsup

Re: My Back to the Future collection - COMIC CON P.25

Thanks! I might actually try to fit a smaller rod and see how it looks as it seems to be a really thin one in the movie :) going to give it a try :p

Re: My Back to the Future collection - COMIC CON P.25

Thank you! I have bought a new rod, will let you guys know how it fits for the police baton.

Also, could you guys help me in finding a way to display a few jackets from Marty's wardrobe? Preferably next to my collection, so in a narrow way. I originally thought of just a coat hanger, and put everything on it, but I don't know, a bit scared it will be 'too' much, maybe I should just leave them in the closet! What do you think? x)

Something like a vertical coat rack or space saving clothing hanger might work well.

I kind of thought one if these would look good:

If you space them out on the pegs along with the nice curve you should be able to see more of each jacket as they will be spread out a bit.
And for $39.95 you can't beat the price:

I think that would be too big to fit in my little space :p And I am not too fond of metal looking stands, rather have something out of wood!

I might just get a tailor dummy bust for the main outfit that MJfox got, and keep the rest inside my closet maybe. I liek the vertical rack though, even if the other jackets wouldn't be too visible!

Thanks

What about something like a thin wood ladder? You could then hang the jackets from the rungs and space them out to your liking to show more or less of them.

Re: My Back to the Future collection - COMIC CON P.25

I actually like the idea of the ladder, it doesn't involve making holes in the wall and that's good haha. What kind of ladder you'd visualise with my cabinets though? Also would it be something to add in the middle, sides? Corners?

Also I was wondering what do you call these plastic sleeves you get when you take your stuff out of a pressing place? Would be good to use these while being displayed, so I can remove them for pictures of when people come. Just so the dust doesn't get too much on the clothes.

You seek Clear Garment Bags. You can usually get those really cheap.
Let me go look at photos of your display and ponder ladder placement ;)

Re: My Back to the Future collection - COMIC CON P.25

Looking at your pictures you are very limited on space to place a ladder between the shelves. I thought you could push them each to the side but there really isn't much space there.
So probably placing the ladder on the side wall would work, but you would need to move some paper props around.

Re: My Back to the Future collection - COMIC CON P.25

Well I technically have 50cm wide, I'll see what I can do xD! Thanks :p

Re: My Back to the Future collection - COMIC CON P.25

Like the ladder idea sounds cool,
look forward to see what you come up with Emma (post pics) :thumbsup

Re: My Back to the Future collection - COMIC CON P.25

Hi Emma, hope you're well. What about putting your left display case all the way to the left and the right display case all the way to the right. Then if you get a wooden or metal clothes rail ( or even a cheap wooden mop handle pole ) and fix it to the top of each display case, so it goes from one to the other across the top. Then you can just use a normal coat hanger, with a swivel metal hook, so it sits with the front of the coat pointing forwards. Hope that makes sense.

Re: My Back to the Future collection - COMIC CON P.25

Yeah I think I got you Charlie :p I actually thought of this for a minute, but not sure, will have to try :p

In the mean time, I have installed a thinner rod in my baton, I think it looks nicer:

I have been away on vacation, but now I'm back! I need to get back on the thinking, but to be honest, I am scared that I will be needing a new cabinet soon if my collection keeps growing, so now I am tempted to add like an ikea cabinet in the middle of the 2 as it would fit just right! Way too many options, still would be cool to have marty's outfit at least though... Though decision x)
