My Amazing Spiderman Build (pic heavy)

So would you begin the puff paint on it before you sew it together or afterwards?
I figure before since it flat and easier to keep from smudging, but im sure it will affect how it gets put together. Anyways, just picking your brain on it is all.

I dont know, I can see benefits and drawbacks to doing it both ways. I'm working with a professional costumer and seamstress whos been working for the past 20 years in film and stage and I will probably go with whatever she recommends in regards to zipper placement, removable hoods and putting the paint on before or after.

I've talked to a few people here on the forums about sewing this project up and I'm not knocking their skills in any way, but at the end of the day, I decided I'm investing way too much time and money in this costume to have anyone but a seasoned pro tackle it.

I'll post updates in this thread with whatever she decides and if I can I'll post her reasons for doing so.

The web backpack is fantastic idea. And good luck with the rest of the costume, it looks amazing.

Thank you. I'm gonna do my very best on this costume.Ive got quite a bit of motivation to do so.

My brother and I are starting a group this fall called Heroes With A Heart .Its a group of guys and girls in my hometown who dress up like superheroes and famous movie characters and visit local childrens hospitals.

That's awesome!!!! My brother and I have toyed with the same idea and concept of visiting children's hospitals in our area. Though at the moment we are currently working towards building our own line of characters and friends interested in jumping in on the cause.
Thats really cool that our there is other people out there sharing the fun with others. Really neat stuff!!!!

Oh oh I see. What's your plan with zippers? Gloves, Boots

boots and gloves are built into the costume already, its all one piece unless you choose to add a removable hood.

Im gonna ask her to run a zipper from the right under arm to the belt area and the same on the other side. This might change based on my seamstresses recommendations. She has two decades of stage and film work under her belt so Im gonna defer to her experience.

I just want to be able to put on the suit and hopefully hide the zippers somewhere. Like why can't there be a zipper along the back side of his belt? "the red strap" http://nerdbastards.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/the_amazing_spider_man_2012-wide.jpg you think if I did that it would work?

Most any seamstress will do a hidden zipper, what seems difficult to us, is easy to them I've noticed

Well the raimi movie suits had hidden zippers that went from his underarm to below the belt then back up the arm.

After watching the movie, ican say i def think they followed suit with the asm suit as well...... However in certain shots it looks like the zipper goes all the way up his back on the side up the underarms and into the back of the shoulder

I ordered the materials for the web backpack today. Should have a working prototype and plenty of pics middle to end of next week.I also bought the webshooters .Theres a really nice web shooter collaboration project in the junkyard under epilepticsquirrel

Just playing the waiting game right now....waiting on the pattern from Taylor McManus...waiting on the web shooters from Shapeways....waiting on the materials I ordered for the backpacks .....you should hopefully see things getting done next week.
