Got mine today - from the same source. I know the true movie prop
collectors will scream in awe but I've always favored the illusion rather
than the limited movie prop reality - still respecting all accomplishments
made by the crew of the films under the given circumstances.
This is almost the helmet I've always dreamed of as if it came right from
an imperial armory. No asymmetry as in the movie prop but still true to
the original intended shape unlike symmetric replicas before - thx to 3D
scan and retooling techniques.
Of course there are issues that need to be worked over to get in a
state I'm longing for but it's a tremendous base for that price.
I think I never got so much for so little in this hobby.
For a budget helmet it is really a blast compared to its predecessors.
It out competes Altmans, Don Post and Rubies in all aspects - shape,
detail, material, features.
Things I'm going to change to achieve a more realistic touch:
- better lenses
- reworking tear and trapezoid sections
- blue decals on the sides
- grid mesh behind the teeth
- slightly brighter grey
- reworking the ear details
- reworking the mouth
- changing the interior padding for better fit
- getting dirty
