MR TOS Enterprise - new pics

Loud and clear, man... but I think people too often assume that the appreciation is felt, without ever expressing it. :rolleyes

I just wanna express it LOUD AND CLEAR... as was said above... I never dreamed of such a thing being available... so I am thrilled with it...

luv.....

Here is something to pass the time.

I did a comparison of the grid line widths as best I could with pics available.
Top is Sudio model, bottom is MR.

And another comparison pic.

And a rough comparison shot....

And some close up fun stuff....

Check the pinball machine bulbs for strobes. Also, does anyone know if the side saucer lights were just "light pipes"?
Meant to convey light like fiber optic. I cant remember seeing them lit much. The flash makes it look lighted.

Those "pinball" light bulbs were a shock to me when I visited the TOS E in Washington DC this summer. They look so odd in person. It's funny how that NEVER showed up on camera. If it had, it would have really taken away from the effect IMHO. That's probally why the grid lines didn't show up either. The bright lighting and the poor resolution of the filming back then. Hey CESSNA, show them the close up of the nacelle after it arrived at the Garber facility. The one that shows the mirror bits.

aw man... so pretty... the MR that is... the Smithsonian... the real one... looks like a cheap whore... too much makeup...

No problem.

If you want to see the the real one cleaned up.
I would suggest writing someone like Paul Allen, perhaps via the sci fi museum, or whatever means we think we can reach him. Inviting him to extend an offer to the Smithsonian to sponsor a much needed restoration.

I have learned *a little* how such things work straight from the horses mouth so to speak. And someone like Mr. Allen (Any other big shots too we can think of) would likely not be turned down.

A polite simple request, that she needs attention and updating as more accurate information has come to public light. No point berating and being overly critical of the last restoration. That wont help us.

To make a long story short, I had a rare opportunity and I did my best and planted a seed and the right person at the Smithsonian knows who to talk to if they ever do decide to restore her.

As you can imagine, they are pretty busy with real aerospace hardware restoration, preservation and education programs, remodeling and all are under budgetary constraints.

A big name donor/sponsor with a pet project (Our Big E) is what we are after to make it happen.

That is my conclusion from my best efforts on this from a few months back. And the timing may be good right now.

So lets write a few letters.

So does anyone know if his is going to ship this month/year or not?

I kind of doubt it now, we started hearing about the Falcon last month to ship for this month, but nothing on the Enterprise.

Whats up Barry??? THis is one question that still hasn't been really anwserd.

Lynn

The latest information I have is that shipments will start sometime in January.

Bugger for those waiting with baited breath...

Do any pics exist of the original nacelle guts?
[/b]

Yes there are pics out there as I have seen a few.

Don't know if they have ever made it on the web though. :(
