MR TOS Enterprise - new pics

Well here's a quick on the fly review while I wait for my potatoes to boil.
I'm astounded by this replica.
First off - I'd like to thank everyone at MR for this, not only the model itself, but also to those who put a great deal of creative effort into the whole package - by that I mean the packing itself (love those four little cardboard 'keys' which keep the two polystyrene halves together) the cardboard insert which fits over this, and of course the booklet, plaque and plaque stand, and the all important instruction sheet - which I admit, I didn't read first. :angel

My model (#737) is thankfully without the tiny flaws mentioned previously in this thread. There are no gaps of any great significance where the pylons meet the secondary hull, no problems with the nav beacon or the impulse deck.
The area of my greatest concern were the grid lines, and I avoided looking at them in great detail until the model was on its stand, and I stood back to admire it from a 'TV' shot angle.
Upon close inspection thankfully the gridlines are very light - more importantly for me, the centre gridline runs perfectly down the centre of the hull. If this had not been the case, then the model would have been returned - it's a nit-pick I know, but it would have bugged me no end. :rolleyes

The weathering is light and well executed. A great deal of care has been taken to make this look 'to scale' with this size of replica.

I'm pleased with the stand. It looks great all black. I was originally a fan of a 'dome' type stand, and have seen stands here with gold in the top surfaces - is this a feature of the sig versions only?

The lights are beautiful - I had a friend round last night, a long time TOS fan - and he just stood in silence with a smile across his face.

I can't really add any more of significance that hasn't already been mentioned here before, other than a huge personal thanks to MR for making a big kids long-term dream a reality.

Howard. :)

Couldn't agree more, Howard. My ship is free from all but the tinyest issues we've all taken great pains to list - with the exception of some paint flaking on the engine pylons which I will touch up as needs be.

It's difficult to qualify (or quantify for that matter) the emotions this piece evokes. All I can say for now is that it is truly breath-taking and soul-stirring. 'Nuff said.

Question, the MR site says my ship has...welll...shipped. Will they send a tracking number, it has been 2 days and no number yet.

So far it sounds like this batch of ships was built with a little better care then the last batch.
My dealer will be getting his this week or early next, so I hope to have mine sometime next week.
Lynn

Hey Dean, (and, by the way, HI. How the hell have you been?) I'm in the same situation. The Site says it's shipped but no tracking number yet. I can't wait. I remember sitting in front of a black and white TV as a kid, watching the title sequence, trying to figure out which tiny white dot was actually going to swell up and become the U.S.S. Enterprise zooming toward us. (And now that tiny white dot is coming home.)

This is my first post here, I stumbled upon this site and you fellows about the time I became aware of MRÂ’s collectable prop of the Enterprise, that was some time back in July 06. I have been monitoring the discussions going on in this thread ever since, I must say it has been informative and entertaining.

I received my “shipped” notice yesterday (but no tracking # yet) I called-up MR and asked them about that # the rep. said it could take up to 72 hours from the “shipped” notice till the tracking # becomes available.

IÂ’m looking forward to putting my skills towards creating some nice pictures of this model and posting them here as well as on the MR site.

In anticipation of what is to come I could not resists adding a few touches to this snapshot of the “E” taken of someone’s MR model (sorry I don’t know who this one belongs to anymore If one of you recognizes it as yours I hope you don’t mind my addition of the star field and the phaser fire.

Cool.

Now all we need is the MR D-7 Klingon to complete the battle.

I was asked for some MR vs Unobtainium comparisons... here are a couple to tide you guys over until I can put together some more.

Cool pics Karl..

On the 2nd set of pics the NCC-1701 on hte studio prop is reversed from the MR ship...

Is that CC's D-7 you got from the JY? I thought you inquired on a 2 tone painted ship?? Or is that some one else's?

Lynn

Thanks.

Early on in production, the "NCC-1701" decals on the bottom saucer were reversed from how we see them usually. I guess at some point they realized that it was easier to read them the other way around, from the camera angles they ended up using.

The D-7 in the photos is a different casting which I got awhile back, it's not CC's.

Woo-hoo. I finally have a tracking number... but kinda surprised it will take over a week to get here? Scheduled delivery on the 29th.

I just got the word today that mine I got from The Plasma Infusion will go out today, I should have mine on Mon.. Woo Hoo.....

Got mine yesterday. One quick photo in it's temporary home, until I decide where and how I want to display it. I know I want to get a plexi case, and I'm considering buying a small entertainment center and displaying all my TOS props together.

She's home...she's plugged up...She's AMAZING... I've been studying her for about 20 minutes. My score is an A. Quick review:

Gridlines....lightly done, all match up, center one centered over the round port on top, no crooked lines drawn to match top grids to bottom grids. Only one spot where they drew double...looks like a slip of the hand. Not very noticable.

Paint/Decals....not a single chip or scratch anywhere.. Evenly applied topcoat. I do not detect any decals. All markings appear to be painted on.

Loose parts...all grills on the nacelles and nacelle supports are on strong and not warped. Fab..

Weathering...lightly done. The "impact scar" on the right nacelle is very light. I almost didn't notice it.

Warp "fanblade" effect....Frak me...1,000 times better than that old Unobtainium piece of crap that I had in my possesion for 10 days. There is some noise from the engines, but nothing that I would think is bad. Makes less noise than my VCR in rewind.

Hanger Bay/Hanger Bay dome light....some light leaks like others mentioned...but nothing I would get upset about. The dome light has a little over spray about the size of a pin head but nothing that I can't fix.

Lights...all work, no issues.

Impulse drive...just a slight hairline gap. Paint looks good though. No light leak from said gap.

I think that covers all the known issues. I just can't tell you how pleased that I am with her. They clearly delivered feedback from the first complaints because I just can't find much of anything not to love. She's a keeper.....

Great pics Karl.

Got mine too, yesterday. I am VERY PLEASED.

My E has none of the major flaws being talked about in the 'net threads.

I guess my biggest complaint is that the motors seem pretty noisy. I wish that there was another switch to turn them off and display it silently, with "lights only".

But, all in all, MR did a phenomenal job.
