I finally got my shipping notice. It's is supposed to arrive on Friday the 26th. I've got the digital camera ready for the Big E's photoshoot.
[/b]

Cool. It is a blast opening that big ol box.

What is the footprint of the base? and how tall with the E in place?
Just thinking about cover options - thanks.

Earlier in this thread he mentioned he had switched from LE to SE,so I assume he is getting the SE.I've got a LE on order, and I've yet to hear of any of them being shipped yet(altho my order does say processing, just a matter of MR charging the card WHEN it ships)

Admiral Nogura is correct, I started with a LE and switched to a SE. Someone had mentioned that Nimoy and Shatner wouldn't be around forever and I relented and spent the extra cash.

I'll post pics and measurements next weekend.

Measurements should be back in this thread somewhere.

Found them....

width.... about 14" wide at the saucer.

"About 33" long and 13 1/4 " tall sitting on the stand.

Stand is is about 21" x 12" at its widest, being that federation vector dealy."

The dimensions of mine are a bit different 0" X 0" X 0" :lol

It's here. And a day early. DHL surprised me.

My first impression is that the grid lines are indeed a little dark on top of the primary hull. The bottom isn't so bad. The weathering is pretty faint, not at all like what I'd see in photos. I do see the weathering on the secondary hull, which I had not realized was on the replica. I'm not going to let the grid lines bother me since no one else who sees it will notice.

I don't see any defects yet, except you can see part of the seam on the rear of the dorsal leading up to the primary hull. It's not a deal breaker for me though.

It's a very heavy ship. My wife was duly impressed (though she's not allowed to touch it :p ) by it's size and how nice it looks. She thought I had ordered a kit. Of course I am treating it like it's made of glass right now. I'm sure I'll be swooshing around the room hunting klingons within a day. :D

I'm going to start taking pictures here in a little while and get them posted as soon as I can manage it.

I got #42 of 500 SE edition.

Awesome. Glad your happy.

pesonally I thought it is pretty light consider how big it is.
You should see how much the Y-Wing weighs. oof.

Looking forward to the pics.
Try to get closeups of trouble areas we have seen if you can.

John

Great news that you received a good one.. I can't wait to get mine. Look forward to seeing your pictures.

On picture 13 there is one hell of a crack running on the back of the dorsal interconnecting structure, thats a big enouph mess that I would send it back. I can't believe it would have got out of the factory looking like that :(

That can be fixed easily enough. putty, sand, and airbrush with matching paint.

I can see that it is going to be a major concern to find the exact matching paint for these things.

Somehow I'd hoped finding paint wouldn't be my first concern after I'd spent over a thousand dollars.

So Refit, does it stay or go?

I know I'm obsessed but I don't know if I'm ever going to be able to accept the grid on mine if it's anywhere near as dark as it is in just about every pic I've seen. :(

I wish they'd penciled it in on top of the clear coat. Then I could erase it.

How is the noise level from the motors?
Both about the same level? Can you hear them obviously from across the room?

Looks like a lotto on the grids.
I swear the one I had to send back was a pretty good grid job.
But others seem twice as dark and way more on the bottom.

From a normal viewing distance, the grid is really not that bad. The E has such a "wow" factor, that I don't think about the details.

I believe I could just clamp the dorsal together and glue it, if I was careful. I've got to take a hard look at that.

You ain't kidding about the paint, Cessna...I've been thinking about that a whole lot.
I'm definitely curious to see it in person, to figure out how hard it'll be to ID the base coat.
We'll probably have just as many arguments about that as the original.
Too bad MR doesn't offer up "touch up" paint...or suggestions on matching it.
Heck..some folks would say, fine..and not do a return if they could get that.

He talked about the scuff in the paint but said nothing about the crack, that bothers me more then the scuff. I would send that one back. Now I don't mean to alarm people but when the communicators came out mine came with problems and needed to be returned, they sent me another unit which had obviously been used returned and then sent to me all beaten up. I called and bitched that they would send me a used unit for replacement and sent that one back. The third communicator took close to 6 months to get to me. When I see enterprises going back to MR I can't help but have flashbacks about my communicator experience. :confused I sure hope my starship comes through unscaved :confused
