MR Rebel Trooper Blaster

I'm planning on purchasing one in the very near future and was wondering if anyone here had made theirs functional. The review on rebelscum.com says that it's a static prop with no moving trigger and an orange plug in the barrel.

Is it possible to take this thing apart and tinker with it?

I would be shocked if the MR blaster could be made "functional" in any way other than possibly a sound chip.

But... Ever since I got mine I have been sorely tempted to weather it. The original photo that MR posted when they announced the rebel blaster was of a real film prop and it was heavily weathered and rusted. I think the blaster looked way cooler that way. If I had more confidence in my ability to do a good weathering job, I would do it.

By "functional" I mean adding a moving trigger and removing the orange plug.

"Realistic" might have been a better word choice. Sorry for the confusion.

Ahhh...

I did actually paint out the orange dot with flat black. Looks great.

The picture that MR used was of a resin cast, so it could not have rusted. ;)
The picture was stolen from collector Jesper Isberg's web page here: http://www.propworld.nu/asp/shop/display.asp?ID=124

The original Sterlings sub-machine guns were painted satin black that has turned grayer and flatter with age. Wear and tear have made it thinner at many places and been shaved off completely at some edges. I suggest you look at how other collectors have painted and weathered their Stormtrooper blasters for something more accurate (for a hero prop) than this resin cast.
