MR mini blaster question

I'm thinking about getting one or two of the new MR mini blasters, especialy if they are scaled with the Large sized Sideshow 1/4 scale figures or even the 1/6th size. They list on the MR site that they are .33 scaled replicas. What does that translate to? Are these scaled to anything? The Mini-Riddle helmets maybe? If they are a of the wall size that don't scale up to anything in my collection, I'll have to pass.

The Lightsabers are listed as .45 scale What do they size up with and why did they pick the same size for the blasters?

Well .33 is 1/3 scale - so unless you have anything else that scale then it will not match up. As I remember they selected .33 to keep them roughly the same physical size as the .45 sabers - as the full size blasters are bigger, they had to scale them down more.

0.33 Scale is 1/3
0.45 Scale is 9/20

I believe the reason that they choose a smaller scale for the blasters was to make them more affordable. A .45 blaster would have been quite a bit larger than a .45 saber, therefore more expensive.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the info guys. So... My bud told me the Mini-Riddel helmets are .45 scale so the sabers would match up but the blasters would be too small. They still might look nice sitting next to them.

I like to try to keep everything scaled and it peeves me that every manufacture makes so many different sized toys, models and Prop replicas.

Here are a few things I've noticed to imrove a few of my displays.

The Gentle Giant Bust-up weapons are the same scale as the Hasbro 3 3/4" figures and vastly improve the look of a few of the better more articulate figures. The GG mini-busts and the Kotobukyia figures also translate well together when adding to or modifying.

The GG mini-busts are 1/6 scale...the same as 12" figures. The Kotobukiya statues are 1/7 scale though.

It would be nice for display purposes if everything were the same scale, but if variety keeps the cost down, I'm all for it.

When are the mini-blasters supposed to come out? I know there's Han ESB variants out, but I just want the regular versions.

I would have to not agree with you that the GG mini busts are 1/6th scale. I still think that the GG mini busts and the Kotobukyias are the same or very close in scale and the 1/6th or 12" scale are much bigger.

This is a side by side shot of a GG (Left) and Koto (right) Shocktrooper helmet.
