I love this pic I just took of my Falcon so much I though I'd share it. I photo shopped out the background and with the lighting it looks an awful lot like the filming model to me. My new wallpaper.:D

That's nice! Did you repaint? BTW, if you post it in hi-rez, it can be my wallpaper, too.... LOL Seriously though, Kudos! Great pic.

Looks great, yeah, post a high rez shot, I wanna new wallpaper! :)

I'll try and get a hi res copy up tomorrow when I get back to my office computer. That's what I tried to put up but it seems as though the image got resized and I had to hurry to the house to watch "The Andromeda Strain".

Chris,

That looks absolutely AMAZING!
I wish all the Falcon's had come out of the factory looking like that!!!

Cheers,

Chris

It is a thing of beauty! It looks GREAT! For me, I never get used to walking in my room and seeing the MR Falcon in all its studio scale glory!

Thanks guys, here's a higher resolution version. And yes I agree Ringa, every time I round the corner into my office it still amazes me, can't think of anything else I've ever owned that still affected me that way a year later.:D Hats off to the team that made this awesome piece a reality.:thumbsup

I think that's the most badass photo I've seen of the MR Falcon. (Btw, you did repaint it, right?)

:thumbsup

Thanks!! I repainted just some of it and added weathering. I repainted all the red panels, the rust and grey panels on the top turret, the blue/grey panels on the forward cockpit side, some of the weathering streaks, added splattering, added rust to the rear deck and access ports and side panels, weathered the engine vents, and added decals. Since mine wasn't overly airbrushed it was easy to make the modifications to the paint job I wanted without having to repaint the entire ship. Guess it's always easier to add than take away.:D

Was there a significant degree of variety of how much the MR Falcons were airbrushed, out of the box? And if so, does that hold true for the 500 Signature Edition models that were manufactured as well? I've heard someone here say in the past that the paint jobs were superior on the Sig Ed models, but that was just his opinion afaik. What do you know?

Thanks,

The Wook

ps~your weathering effects are fantastic!

Yes, unfortunately there was a considerable degree of variation in the quality of the paint jobs on the Falcons. Below is a shot for comparison of my first one. Granted the above pic of my new bird is much "whiter" looking than in person because of lighting, but it is still much lighter than my first one, which was basically tan for the base coat and had a heavy dose of black airbrushing all over it. My new one looks to me to be a spot on match to Floquil "grime", which I think contributes greatly to it's looking like the studio model. As for whether the signature versions had better paint jobs on average I can't say, but I don't think so.

I finally saw one of these in person (at fellow RPF'r R. Pareso's home) and they're fricking huge compared to what I expected. Kudos on doing such a great job on detailing - it's a masterpiece.

I'd never have the money for one of these, but it looks every bit worth the money.

Big time difference between falcons, most had way too much airbrushing streaks, my first one was too dark with overdone airbrushing, the second one was very good and more accurate to the real prop. I think the first few hundreds had better paintjobs, my first one was #625 the second #223

Nightrider what#'s did you get?

That sounds about right GF, while I can't remember what the number of my first one was, the one I have now is #154.

Mine's #269 and it's a wee bit darker than I'd like but I'm ok with it considering how dark some of the others I've seen are.

Mine looks pretty close to nightrider's

Thought I'd bump this one back up to the top to celebrate the return of my Falcon. I sold her off last year with the arrival of my little girl, however my wife has recently been gracious enough(with much pleading on my part) to allow me to incorporate some items into our den. So, with much good fortune, I was able to re-acquire my beautiful bird from the buyer(thanks Barry) along with a nicely done red 4 cc X-wing and MR training remote. Looking at my Falcon now, I can't believe I ever let it go.:wacko Will post some pics of my den when everything is finished. I won't have many pieces, but the few I have will be my favorites. I also plan to add a Tantive and Vader reveal. Anyways, enjoy.

Still the best photo of the MR Falcon I've seen. No one seems to bother photographing this grail piece with decent studio ambience... even MR's own publicity shots failed to show it off as well as they might have done.
