In all honesty, I love T-rex. They are really so cool. Did you see that T-rex fight scene in King Kong? He whipped those dinosaurs A's pretty well. OK...back to topic.
This MR vs. fan-made has turned into a debate... and I agree and believe there are 2 uses for helmets, collecting and trooping. I troop, and it does make me happy.
I will add $280 is a great price for a shelf decoration...but most customers of MR have to pay full retail plu shipping. It also would be nice that the paint scheme would be correct, even if new in appearance. Who knows, MR may revise this and these irregulars will be more valuable in the future.
Also, I have been trying to be honest (a beacon, I am not), but a lot of folks are attacking me for debating the issue...and I am just defending myself. You (and several others in this topic) "may" think I am an A-hole (or whatever), but I am not going to let anyone believe I am wimp or thin skinned, I just have to check remarks in kind...even if it is from a RPF long timer. Sure, call me newbie. Sure call me a TDH outcast... Actually, I am just a Star Wars guy. I have not met anyone that knows more about it than me...in person...yet.
I do want to address why I would not get an MR helmet on a more base level. Why should I vest money into MR, especially since I predict most of the people that have roasted me here in open forum are MR reps, or are on the payroll or MR in some way.
I was warned by a friend that a roasting could happen if I expressed my honest opinion on RPF. Well, I have opinions. Do I have 4,000 posts here? No. Do I have knowledge, skills, a prop collection, a ridiculous toy collection, rare items, autographs, pictures of my children sitting on the lap of Dave Prowse, Ray Park, Jeremy Bulloch? Yes.
I am new here and the welcome has been...unusual. <-- unusual = _ _ _ _ _ _ .
As for my fan-made helmet, I was treated with kindness and courtesy when I opted for it. I was able to wear it 3 months ago. I won first place in the Halloween Costume Contest in it. Many of my friends that troop in clone armor prefer it.
Lukes Roommate, I do not know you, and I hope that this message reaches you, and you read it with objectivity.
Regards,
John

"Anyway, to keep it respectful here, I am just debating the point that MR has provided a tardy, incorrectly painted, over-priced and unwearable helmet."
I LOVE that over-priced line. :lol
I paid $280 for my MR Clone bucket, with a stand, with the CG files being used in the creation of the helm, with a build quality higher (and in fiberglass) than the fan made versions which are too big.
You go find me a fan made trooper bucket, in fiberglass, WITH the fit and finish of the MR version, for under 300 bucks and I will produce a living T-Rex for you.
With the specialty helmets, the price is based on the limited edition aspect. If that's a new idea to anyone I would be surprised.
Do I have mine yet? No. Do I troop? No. Do I care? No.
I have patience.
Don't like it? Don't buy it. But don't stand in here and act as some beacon of honesty while at the same time slapping people who think, and rightly so, that the MR version is superior to the fan made ones (so far).
As it stands you don't even seem to have any money vested in ANY of the MR helmets that are up for discussion here, so why do you care? Just go and troop and be happy.
Just keeping it respectful.
