MPP flash: What's the going rate these days?

Im 90% sure one sold here in the uk for around £2.5k-£3k a few months back, but I cant seem to find it
I did find another three on Flints auctions that went for £2k+ this year. From what I can see of their sales the single step version commands the highest price. Mines a double by the looks of things.

This one will be on auction on Propstore and already has a bid of £2500. Granted it’s the rare RAF complete outfit MPP, but will still command a decent amount in the end. Also it’s a two step and not the coveted one step.

And it sold for £2,500. I think the days of £4-£5k flashes are over.

With buyer’s premium, so £3100. I’m the one who bought it, and only because it’s specifically an RAF flash in mint condition with the full kit. I wouldn’t have spent half that for some of the other ones currently available.

It’s kind of like the Kenobi real parts builds - the pool of available parts is exceedingly small, but the total number of people in the world who will spend that kind of money on original parts is also very small and shrinking, as discussed in thread about offloading collections.

It’s kind of absurd for any of us to buy this when something like Roman’s exists, but I’ve been swapping and upgrading for a couple of decades now and it’s nice to hit the finish line on these props.

Well said, jakob2121. Congratulations on that MPP acquisition!

Worth noting for posterity that the flint’s auction one also closed this week for £2250. That one didn’t have the RAF kit and had a dented end cap.

The problem with these auctions is that you also have to pay: buyer's premium, credit cards fees, VAT, shipping fees and so on... So you quickly end up with a over 3K GBP Mpp.

I never really understood how they determine the buyers premium…

What kind of percentage does the auction house get?

Propstore takes 26%, it's just a fixed fee.
for instance, Julien's auction is a bit different per auction I think, but the last one i saw was 27% and then they also take 3% for using the Julien's website to bid... so, might as well say they always take 30%!
then they often take a fee for the card as well.

now, for instance for someone like me in Europe! last Propstore auction, 26% buyer premium, shipping, inssurance, card fee from my bank for the currency conversion, VAT and post fee when it arrives here. So, for instance in total, something for 2000£ (2400€) is in the end 3270€.
auctions are very expensive

last time for the LA propstore auction, there was a 3% or so credit card fee as well, this time with Propstore London, I haven't seen that fee. So Propstore LA might be a bit more expensive than Propstore London. But I guess this is a bit cancelled by the currency difference, people might maybe bid a bit more easily with the £ prices and end up paying more in the end when it's changed back to $, I don't know...

(I say this but I know we are clever geeks and might not fall for the currency trick. I know I have a excell file with the prices and that is adding all the fees and currency changes automatically. So if I bid a certain price, I already know exactly what it is going to cost me in the end even with the VAT and everything.)
