MPC x-wing cockpit replacement (larger kit)

Hello kiddies,
Here is my replacement kit. I made this to fit the Rebel Storm miniature Rebel pilots (modified into a sitting position). I have a few of these old kits so I made a mold of this because the stock cockpit is worthless. If there is interest I can post a thread in the junkyard, probably $10 plus ship. I thought I would share the results here though.

Here is another shot of the replacment cockpit and R2. This will be for a diorama called "A Hero's Welcome". The new cockpit adds so much more to the old MPC kits.

I agree! The old MPC cockpits,and R2 units were HORRIBLE!!!:eek I shaved the mould lines off of my R2 unit,and replaced them with decals,and sprue. How the hell are you able to close your canopy? I couldn't get mine to sit right,so I had to remove the greeblies that I put on my control dash to get the canopy to go back on.:angry I also had to shim the seatback,so that it the canopy would close over Lukes' head after modifying the helmet!

I have a few of the old kits lying around. When I began making the replacment cockpit I used one with the window glued on so that the greeblies would not get in the way of the stock parts.I did not use any of the stock seat and dashboard or the pilot when I rebuilt it.

The stock parts are indeed worthless, but what I see in your pics is far too chunky and clunky. I had no trouble when I used random parts sitting around to scratch a cockpit a few years ago. Sorta accurate, but smaller, crisper details.

found the old mpc model kit on amazon and got really excited. until i saw the lack of detail in the cockpit. particularly the pilot. are these replacements still available?
