MPC Millennium Falcon Conversion

LOL!!!

Well if your in the pro build up business(or any other business for that matter) It's kinda out of sight, out of mind! I have many Different Falcons all over the place, Fine Molds Etc...Glad you liked it. Again, Great job on your build, When I have time, I'll be adding more detail to mine.

I only just found of through Facebook that this is your main line of business, sorry about the misunderstanding. Can't say that I've seen your FM Falcon though!

^^^
Weird... after having seen so many Falcons with the radar dish too big, this one looks too small! Optical illusion or what? Other than that, you have a very nice model there!

that's beautiful capn'! also haystack, when are you planning to update us on this? been a while yeah? looking forward to some progress mate.

Hmm, yes unfortunately the FineMolds 1/72 & 1/144 Falcon models have undersized radar dishes,.....Scratchy has correctly sized dishes for sale for both scales

Yeah I only noticed the FM radar size recently, and now I can't unsee it

I've been panelling the new styrene mandibles with 0.20 styrene but it's not enough to warrant an update yet. I've also made the underside opening ports and stuff. I'll probably work on it this week and update on monday

Back to the build then:

I made some replacements for the underhull openings

I then cut out areas for the extra gearboxes, and made the new gearbox from 1mm styrene. Still need to make another one

And this is one of the things that's been keeping me busy!

The kits will be ready soon

Hmm... Kits... I think I said I *might* be interested in one of these... but I've since been given a raise and I am now very definitely interested.

Made this new cockpit from 0.2mm styrene, the template was glued onto the sheet before I cut it for extra strength, and then I soaked superglue along all the beams. I'm considering this one to be a mock up as it could be neater to be honest

The angle looks wrong due to the macro mode on my (new) camera

Yeah. But certainly a good run-through/mock-up. On my Falcon I think I'm gonna have to scrap and re-do some stuff too. But that's how you learn, right?

True fact there my friend. I've learnt a ridiculous amount on this project, my skills have improved in leaps and bounds since the beginning

I picked up a set of miniature traffic cones yesterday, sawed off the end and cleaned it up a little. The angle is different to my paper net but I think the cone is closer to the 32". Cutting out the windows on this is going to be difficult...the walls are at least 1mm thick, possibly up to 1.7mm

Might need to finally buy a dremel haha, a scalpel isn't going to be able to do this

Yep, Dremel for sure is your next buy for that plastic. Don't forget to wear protective glasses (or a shield) as those pesky Dremel saw blades have a tendency to fly off or break and send shrapnel all over the place:eek

Been lacking any motivation for this, it's essentially a full scratch build at this point bar the hull

Built up the underside jawbox, needs detailing. I'm gonna have to have this bird in flight because I've no idea how to mount a landing pad into the shallow/angled bay

Gonna try and finish the rest of the styrene construction soon, it's a lot.

Completed work on the lower jawbox, as seems to be typical of me the greebles are quite bold...unlike Jaitea's beautifully detailed work :cry

It's a shame you can't see all the panelling, it took quite a while to do haha

tumblr_n1ki0jTEqF1sf4tb1o2_1280.jpg

Off center somehow.....?? Can't work out which one is truly off center as I measured them all correctly. Oh well, too late to fix it

Found these great trays in IKEA, £1 each??? Bought 4, ideal for sorting

Messing with the super macro on my new camera hehe, artsy or what? Anyway yeah I'm getting back into the swing of this build, starting to love it again
