Movies you hate that everyone else likes

For me, it’s Joker.

Nothing new.
Nothing groundbreaking.
Every part of the film was predictable.

I liked it a little more, the first time I saw it, when it was called The King of Comedy. Or, the second time, when it was called Taxi Driver.

I don’t get it. The Dark Knight got the character and story right.
Did you see it in the theater? I dont the understand people who say that it is a mediocre movie, my brother included. I thought it was the best movie in the “superhero” genre in a long time.

Sorry, it really isn't that great. Even if it was the best superhero movie in a while, and I don't think it is, that only shows how bad most superhero movies have been of late.

Joker was very...monotonous, its biggest sin by far. There wasn't an arc for the character so much as there was him being bullied from frame one until he snapped -- which, sure, that's the point, but it made for very numbing viewing. After a certain point, the entire universe of the movie seemingly having it out for Arthur got ridiculous.

JOKER is one of those movies I bought when it finally came out on digital......Haven't even watched it yet. Just really don't care anything about it. I only bought it because everyone was like "OMFG, this movie is an Oscar, it's mental and disturbing!!".......still haven't watched it.

Y'know what? If I want to watch a Batman movie that doesn't have Batman in it, I'll just watch The Dark Knight Rises.....

I saw it at home. I rarely go to the theater anymore; unless it’s a chance to see a classic movie on the big screen.

I doubt if having the sounds of an anonymous popcorn muncher in my ear would have added to the experience regarding Joker.

As this thread proves, to each his/her own. :)

It wasn’t “the entire universe having it out for him”, it was them trying to convey that some people in this world are dealt a crappy deck from the start, and it can seemingly never get better. There not trying to give the guy a victim complex, rather showing how for one reason or another some people get chewed up and spit out there whole lives and how that can have deadly consequences...it seemed to be a commentary on the rise of mass/school shooters and the like, however I do not believe at all that it “glorified violence” like the media wanted to say it did, instead it showed the path to it.

And if someone didn't dig the movie, they didn't dig it. :p

No need to try and fight it out on behalf of movies you like that others don't. That's what this thread is for. A place for those of us confused about why some movies are popular, to share our thoughts without having to duke it out with the fan boys any more than "aw, it's a shame you didn't like it, it's one of my favorites."

In other words I should shut my big stupid dumb mouth, lol, I have always tried to sway people when I disagree with their statements but you’re right this is probably not the right thread to be doing that.

I never, ever, ever asked myself, in my life, what series of events caused the Joker to be the clown prince of crime. Never. Not sure anyone else did either. Just because Joker might have a comic book character in the title role, that doesn't make it a comic book movie. You could have removed "Joker" from the movie and nothing would have changed.

It’s an origin story and like it or not your gonna get more and more in the years to come. The joker is one of the most interesting comic villains and I thought the movie was great but at the very least put a little distance between the Joker character and whatever Jared Leto was trying to portray...

You're welcome to your opinion, of course. I just don't happen to share it. I didn't pay to see Joker in the theater and I won't for any subsequent movies. I will say it was marginally better than anything Leto did, but it still wasn't a movie that appealed to me in the slightest. YMMV.

I know I said it somewhere else but I had/have no desire to learn or see the origin story for the Joker. We didn't need any justification for the way he turned out, he was a sick and twisted mother and how he got that way makes no difference to me. This is my feelings on the matter and your mileage may vary.

Thats the problem. Joker isnt a superhero or comic film. If it was who is the superhero? It certainly isnt Joker.

It was ment to be more of an styalized art film.

I was responding to PumpkinKing who said " I thought it was the best movie in the “superhero” genre in a long time. "

Really? Are we gonna say joker isn’t even in the comic/superhero realm? Even though the movie literally has Bruce Wayne and his parents in it? Oh ok it’s an “Art” movie, GTFOH lol.

Joker didn't really do much for me either. It presented a good case of someone mentally disturbed and all that, but at the end of the day - that guy is not batman's ongoing nemesis. Batman would eat that joker for lunch. I didn't get any high end intelligence or calculation there at all. just a guy who got bullied and lost it.
