Well, was time to start over again. Didn't have much luck with the foam sculpting, kept sanding away too much. Anyways, the wood will be far more sturdy to place the sword in. You will have to bare with me on the progress as I'm just figuring it out as I go along. Looking forward to progressing with this baby, will see how far I feel like going with the finished product. If I have the patience I may try to fit all the blinking LED's.

Been ages since I posted on this last, but back on track. Gotten my plastic parts machined, have my metal frame welded up. Now to figgure out how it will all go together, will need some wooden finishings, and then hopefully blinking LED's.

Thanks buddy, yea it's taken a while to find the insperation to take this up again. A lot of sketching and figguring out. Will be getting back to it once I get home nxt week.

Well, ordered me up a LED wiring kit for the flashing lights that can be seen on the sword "lock" in the movie. No idea about circuits and wiring what so ever, so gonna be learning on the job. I'm thinking the language in my house is gonna be a little blue by the time I've finished, haha.

I'll just be looking to have some of lights plink on and off, some lights "trace", othees pulse and fade and some stationary. "It'll be easy" you say, I love your optimisum, haha. It'll be a nice learning streak.

* Arduino Pro-Mini (or Nano)
* NeoPixel led strip (length to meet your project needs)
+5v battery source (with enough current to meet your led count)

You'll have to install the Arduino IDE/software as well.. (probably some drivers too)..

Thought I'd better do a quick drawing of the lock. Figgure out where I want to position the LED's and what colours I want them to be. Will also need to decide on flashing patterens and sequences. Getting there slowly but surely.

If you want patterns/animations.. and total control over the colors and what leds are said colors..

I would suggest using "Neopixels"... (which require a microcontroller [Arduino])

Also.. keep in mind, that you will want to keep the top of the led as far from the surface as possible (and probably use some sort of diffuser as well).. otherwise you'll get a 'corn cob' effect from the leds.. instead of a nicely lit 'area'..

Well boys and girls, what can I say other than......I HAVE THE POWER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yup, Mr Jeffrey Robertson has done it again. He is a true master of his craft, and here it clearly shows. A couple of months ago I finally bit the bullet and sent Jeffrey an email with a few pics of the prop sword used in the movie, he was more than happy to oblige. Jeffrey sent me a few suggestions on how he would like to make a few subtle alterations to make this sword more like a real sword and fully functional instead of just a nice looking prop. As you can see the properly ground fuller and the blade edge goes all the way up into the guard which was also slightly altered, the bronze guard has been refined and is not as bulky as the one used in the movie. Instead of a suede wrapped hilt it has been beautifully wrapped with a very dark brown leather (almost black). The pommel has been slightly increased in size to the original prop to make the sword more well balanced, and I just cant believe how surprisingly wieldable this massive sword actually is. Over the next couple of months I will be attempting to build a replica of the "lock" that is seen in the end of the movie, as an ordinary display plaque wouldn't do this sword justice. So I hope you enjoy the attached pics of my new He-Man sword and please stay tuned for the display (eventually)
