Josey Wales' guns as posed with are .44 Walker Dragoons. "With a total production of only 1100, the originals of these guns are highly prized by collectors. The massive 4+ pound, 6 Shot, .44 caliber revolver is often referred to as the granddaddy of revolvers. Length of barrel 9", Round Forward of Lug. Steel Back strap, Brass trigger guard. One Piece Walnut Grip. Overall length 15 3/4". " As taken from the C&D Jarnigan online catalog

Easy to spot because of the distinctive shape of the trigger guard, most people assume they are a version of the Colt, either Army or Navy. Also notice the style of the cylinder release arm near the tip of the barrel. Also very distinctive.

The Cabella's version can be seen here:

And the Jarnigan one here:

The spaghetti western replicas (Like the poncho shown above) can be found here:

http://hollywoodprop.com/spaghettiprops.htm

Almost everything there is an excellent if not near perfect replica, with the exception of the sheepskin vest (even their comparison pics show the incorrectness) and their shirts (close but with modern buttons on the collar-a shirt from the early 80's I believe)

i had a dragoon. sold it (unfortunately) a while back.

AWESOME gun, and dear sweet god if it misfired you could just beat someone to death with the barrel. heavy suckers.

If I might ask, what's the source of the poncho/hat?

Anyone know the style pistol Cogburn used? I'd like to get my hands on one of those...along with that tin.

y'all need to get to the Gene Autry Western museum in Griffith Park, Los Angeles. The entire basement level is chock-full of western movie and actual western era firearms and memorabilia. Truly a wonder. Been meaning to back there some day unaccompanied so I can give it the full and proper ogling it deserves.

In the fall of 2005 the Autry had a display of Leone films. There was 'no photos allowed', but I took a few with a cardboard camera. Those boots must be 14 inches long.
