Most Underrated Rock Guitarists?

You usually only hear of Randy Rhoads, Eddie Van Halen, Clapton and the like. What are some guitar players who are amazing but never get any recognition? For me it's David Gilmore of Pink Floyd, the band wouldn't have been the same if he hadn't come in and he made them shine after Roger Waters left more than if he'd stayed.

This came up before, but I forget what thread :)

Ya want a list? Paul Gilbert, Rik Emmett, Eric Johnson, Billy Gibbons, B.B. King, Frank Zappa... the list goes on.... :)

Dimebag, Zakk Wylde, Kerry King, Jeff Hanneman, Alex Skolnick, KK Downing, Glenn Tipton, Dave Mustaine, Marty Friedman, Dave Murray, Adrian Smith, Tony Iommi, Mark Morton, Willie Adler.

If if wasn't for vh1 classic and That Metal Show sadly I'd not know who half of those people are even though i know the bands they're in. I remember i was in Lexington KY when Dimebag was shot in Cincinnati.

Scott Ian, Dan Spitz, George Lynch, Sammy Hagar, Ace Frehley, Ted Nugent, Warren DeMartini, Carlos Cavazo, Uli Jon Roth, Michael Schenker, Max Cavalera, Alexi Laiho, Zacky Vengeance, Synyster Gates.

This thread is full of some over rated guitar players and others that are well known. Under rated is someone thats just that. Look up Martin Mull sometime.

He's not underrated or a big "rock" guy by Carlos Santana is unbelievable on guitar. Joe Satriani is also very good to me. These are guys who treat their guitars like a voice, their notes ARE the lyrics.

WarEagle, I don't know if half of those guys would be listed as underrated. They show up on top guitarist lists for most people.

I want to know what happened to a guy named Eric Gale from the 90s. I have one album, great blues guitar player.
