More remakes of classics

You shut your whore mouth about my precious Hobbs & Shaw!

And what the heck does that movie even have to do with lack of remaking tango and cash?
LOL what I meant was I think those two would be a good pair to remake Tango and Cash if they were to do any sort of remake in Hollywood. I’m just not sold on the Hobbs and Shaw yet fighting a cyborg =\. I’ll still see it. Via fire stick, but I’ll see it :p

While 'Child's Play' could stand a remake, my issue with it is that it's time has passed. When they made that film a giant toy boy doll, I think it was called "My Buddy" was popular and so their darker version was more relatable- you walked past displays of them in the store and saw the commercials for them on TV. Now they have to introduce the toy in the movie and then give it the evil twist.

Some remakes are good or better than the originals (The Thing), others are in name only (The Day the Earth Stood Still) where they completely change the story to fit some current agenda.

yea, it was the era of the cabbage patch kid, and my buddy. the best equivalent today would be some sort of automated version of... my little pony for really young kids, or... some sort of "the first transforming home assistant drone", or something like that. I'm trying desperately to think of any modern young kids toys that would be automated, or are even large enough to be a threat if they were possessed by a serial killer, and they just don't sell them these days. It'd be a swarm of action figures or similar sized things; like small soldiers with no good guy soldiers.

Maybe... a Lego mindstorms gains sentience and starts building itself new frames and chassis using legos, then eventually other materials it comes across? That's about the best I can think of if you want toy killer robot origin...

[Edit] oh yes... that's what you'd do... "Introducing the market's very first... "Build-a-Buddy!" customize your newest robot pal at a friendly neighborhood location near you. Switch any part in and out as the games require. Comes standard with compatibility with all the great Omni-Product network-capable toys you've been enjoying for years..."

I wouldn't say Apocalypse Now is a remake. It's an adaption at best. And for every remake that wasn't bad, there are plenty that are. For instance, just about every film based on a TV show.
Leave Serenity, Cowboy Bebop, Twin Peaks and Mission Impossible out of this.

Speaking of adaptations, I love the movie Adaptation, which is an abstract adaptation of The Orchid Thief. One of Nick Cages best roles.

I think the closest thing, in terms of size and popularity, would be Build-A-Bear. But they're not mechanical at all.

Or 21 Jump Street, Car 54 Where Are You, and Bewitched? Oh, wait. You're listing things you think are good...

By the way, "Serenity" wasn't so much "based on" as a continuation of the TV series and "Laura Palmer: Come Firewalk With Me", as I recall, was a prequel of sorts (I've got a copy on VHS but still haven't actually watched it).

If you're so certain that remakes are always bad, then just don't watch any; problem solved. We'll keep going to watch new or remade movies that look interesting to us, regardless of if it's a remake of something else that's been done in the last 15 years or not; and just skip the things we don't like the look of.
