Moon is out on DVD and BluRay today... kindof

But it is also sad because you hear people at the end saying he's an imposter/illegal alien/etc...AND you know he only has three years to enjoy Earth before he starts falling apart. It was also strange that they would program the computer to take care of him SO well. Man, that countdown was straight out of Outland. lol

My thought was that maybe a previous-previous Sam reprogramed him to take "more care" of him.
I do wish they would have showed more at the end, what was the story with the original Sam? how long was he really there?, was he ever really there, or did he just sell his DNA and memories to Lunar Industries?
I'd like to think that, once on earth, Sam 2 got medical help before he reached 3 years old and was able to live longer.

I think I'll get it on DVD.

I thought the illegal alien comment was just just sort of a funny thing, that the reaction on earth was huge and it was dominating the talk circuit with all the whacky things people say, and who knows, I also thought they may be able to treat him so he can live longer lifespan. You can only imagine the publics reaction to such a thing. Just like in Bladerunner they were slaves, but unlike that film, it was not public knowledge. Will they wake up the other clones as well? What happens to the original DNA donor Sam? Is he accountable? will he and his daughter meet Sam 2? I like there are things to wonder about at the end. Will the clones start a grand army of the republic? ;)

Just watched it last night as a rental from Blockbuster. Excellent movie! :cool:thumbsup:thumbsup Moon and District 9 were the two best sci-fis of 2009. It was refreshing to watch a movie without giant robots battling each other, or robots battling humans, or blue natives battling humans, or mutants battling humans, or... um, you get the picture.

I definitely want to get a copy of this movie for my own movie collection and see it again. Great performance by Sam Rockwell.(y)thumbsup

yeah huh?
No aliens, no massive space battles, nearish future (a rather ignored time period), character driven, high quality acting essential to the story.
Lens flares under control. :lol

Great use of good ol models! that make me all tingly alone.

i might be behind, but i just found out the director is the son of David Bowie o_O

Yeah, well, it's easy to make a movie about the Moon when your dad is a man who fell to Earth.

:angel

Picked up a copy at the local Walmart. They've got about 5 copies left. It seems that Walmart is the only local store selling Moon. HMV doesn't have it. Didn't see it at Future Shop.

I was thinking, I'd like to see Sam Rockwell get an Oscar nomination for this one.

Watched yesterday via Netflix. While not a great movie it was very good. It was solid both in story and filming, thought provoking and it had a nice pace (yes, you actually had time to think about the story without an explosion or something every 20 seconds). One of the better movies I've seen and it was nice to see some old style effects w/o all of the CGI that you get in nearly every movie these days.

It's my belief the writer/director was delving into the backstory of Blade Runner with the replicants on the Off-World colonies, but he filmed it with a 2001 vibe. It's pretty obvious this guy has a large respect for Ridley Scott's work. Still, I loved it. Total sci-fi the way I like it fed to me. I like to think after a movie. To me if you don't at least think about a movie within a day or so after seeing it it's just not that good then. Moon had me pondering. :thumbsup
