Moding the PL 1/350 refit

Hello,

I am planning to build a Polar Lights 1/350 as a heavy cruiser, to do this I am planning on some mods. The most ambitious will be converting the botony area in to a flight deck. My biggest concern is how to cut the lower hull. Is it as simple as using a razor saw? Any suggestions will be deeply appreciated.

The opening for the botanical gardens is right at the parts seam (bottom / side) so it's and easy area to get into.
Razor saw, Dremel, Exacto knife will all work.
