Modifying an MR case?

If I had, say, a Luke V2 lightsaber case, and I wanted it to fit an Obi-Wan ANH, could I just dremel the rear cradle a bit wider to accomodate the "gear?" Can acrylic be dremeled without mangling it, and can a case withstand dremeling?

I have used a dremel on the acrylic stands that pastorjedi sells. They are like the stands inside the MR display case. I don't know if the stand could handle the stress without breaking off the "mirror".

it would have to be done very carefully, but yes, definately it could be done. I have been making my own "MR style" cases by hand lately and that it how I shape the acrylic stands - with my dremel. However, if you want a clear finish, you will also have to sand is very smooth and flame polish the surface. Again, yes, it can be done, but must be very carefully. Especially since it's attached to the base already...

If it broke off the base, I assume it would totally ruin the mirror and be unfixable?

yes. they are practically impossible to remove from the base without cracking the mirror...
